Wesley Willis (May 31, 1963 – August 21, 2003) was a busker, musician, and artist from Chicago. A diagnosed chronic schizophrenic, he gained an enormous cult following in the 1990s after releasing several hundred songs of simple but unique music, with emphasis on his humorous, bizarre, and frequently obscene lyrics. “ R.I.P. Wesley Willis. **** you Leukemia. I saw the man do his thing to a sold out crowd at the late great Koo's Cafe in Santa Ana, Ca. a few years back. It was freaking amazing. Literally, the rock and roll was perfect. The concert was a jam. After the show, Wesley took my hand and looked into my eyes. He whispered, "Rawr" and I responded "Rawr". He then promptly headbutted me. It was awesome. You see that faint dull mark on his forehead? That's from headbutting his fans instead of shaking their hands.. Rock over London. Rock on Chicago forever. ”
