Techno-pop band from Spain Mecano was formed in the early '80s by brothers Nacho and Jose Maria Cano, who were joined by singer Ana Torroja. While Spanish New Wave, known as Movida Madrilena, was at its highest level of popularity, Mecano burst into the local scene with "Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar," a single released by CBS in 1981.
