About Kyuss

Origin:

Decades:

Hailing from Palm Desert, CA, Kyuss (pronounced "kai-uss") has become something like a heavy metal equivalent to the Velvet Underground. I'd listened the new "Blues for the Red Sun" at home already more than 100 times, but than only some weeks later ... a small club in BRLN, little bit more than 80 people, heavy sounds, almost darkly, much beer, very heavy smoke in the air, hairs, eyes ... my first Kyuss concert - one of the best in my life, really ...

Indeed, Brant was the Drummer on "Blues for the Red Sun" - The best album of all time. My mistake! Brant was incredibly influential in the sound of that album - Check out Brant's solo work - it is a diggable groove! I just figured he was on bass, but on blues, I think he was a multitalented musician who helped inspire everyone. Brant got credit with concept / drums. No other Kyuss album had that consistent "groove" that blues had! Nick was bassist on blues - for the record! Kyuss in 1992 was the shit!

QOTSA... just don't measure up to the low rumble of that Kyuss train screeching through the dusty barren desert. Garcia gives that unharnessed purr, that puts Homme's Guiitar in perfect balance. Brants thick BASS lines made the soul shake.
