Kariya (刈谷市, Kariya-shi?) is a city located in Aichi, Japan. As of March 1, 2010, the city has an estimated population of 146,332 and the density of 2,900 persons per km². The total area is 50.45 km². The city was founded on April 1, 1950. Kariya is twinned with Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, which has a Japanese garden to commemorate this, named after the city.
