Joshua Hayes Carll, known as Hayes Carll, is a singer-songwriter from The Woodlands, Texas (a Houston suburb). He is currently signed to Lost Highway Records. Carll got his first guitar at age 15. He began writing songs influenced by Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson, John Prine, Jack Kerouac and Dead Poets Society. “ My husband and I watched the episode of REK and Hayes on Austin City Limits a couple of weeks ago, and we were so amazed at how off key he was. His style and up and down ways of singing 'hurt our ears.' BUT, I just got on his home page and listened to him. He sounded SO different and much better than his permornance in Austin. ??? I wonder if his monitor was working that night. Does anyone know? Did anyone watch his performance? Did anyone hear what we heard on Austin City Limits? Just wondering...His lyrics are amazing. We love them. ”
