"These Things" is a new album written by
singer/songwriter Derek Ryan from Chicago; going by the project name Channel Theory. It was recorded in a vintage Los Angeles studio over three weeks in the fall of 2008. Drawing from a wide variety of musical influences including Sigur Rós, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, and Soundgarden, "These Things" is a composition of ten interwoven songs. Derek Ryan’s vocal range, lyricism, and unorthodox chord and song structures paint a sonic landscape where the listener is invited to wander. The album is powerful and new yet the audience will resonate with the soulful, emotional atmosphere of the music.
