Taking its name from the world's largest rodent that inhabits the jungles of South America, Capibara formed in the summer on 2007. Joshua Lamar (formerly of Mondo Generator, currently of Can Can - JDub Records) and Britton Thomas met in high school and after going years without any contact, and being in bands that never amounted to much, they were brought together by happenstance and decided to embark on a project all their own. The two-piece has since grown into a foursome; adding Ray Watts on bass and Shaun Hill on drums, and has thus rounded out their robust rock sound - commanding anyone within ear-shot to get out of their chair and move to the beat of these danceable dark rhythms.
Capibara's influences range anywhere from Bloc Party to The Walkmen to traces of Don Henley.
Their first self-released full-length album was recorded over the winter of 2009 at Nickel and Dime studios and is a 12 song free-for-all that is bound to live up to its title: Wildcat.
