Karen Gafurdjanov (in Russian: Карен Гафурджанов) was born in 1974 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

As he said, he is the first boy of the fifth generation of Gafurdjanov’s family and the first one, whose name is not Uzbek (His grandma wanted to call him Karen). Bursting into music in 1999, he participated to various world music events, being the first artist representing his country.

Mixing pop music with the oldest Uzbek traditions, he attempts to express the whole heritage of Uzbek culture to the younger generations.

Karen is all-in-one talented person: he composes music, writes lyrics, sings and plays several instruments: solo-guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, percussion, doira and rubob. His songs are in Uzbek, English, Russian and Georgian.

In 2005 he recorded his first solo album Sensiz ne hayot (in Russian: Сенсиз не хаёт).
