Hey, cats and kittens! It's been awhile since I wrote anything actually About Me here, so I'll tell you my latest news: I have "come out" as Polyamorous, which the more diligent of you can look up of Wikipedia, but the short story is that I have realised I have a need for a wider circle of love and sex partners in my life. Is this need genetic? Maybe. Is it natural? You bet your boots, more so for humans than monogamy. Look around you. Is it easy? Hell, no, and trying to become Poly when you have been monogamous for 21 years and your partner has difficulty accepting change is particularly hard and painful. Is it worth it? I sure hope so, because I am dedicated to becoming the "real me" that I have repressed for decades now. I just want the inner me and the outer me to be more in harmony. This is me thinking out loud and trying to be coherent at the same time, but I hope that has explained something About Me for you. :) And now back to the music. . . .

I'm Rune Riverstone, your Mystery Girl. "Rune" is an ancient word meaning "mystery." And to help explain the significance of that, here is a quotation from Albert Einstein: "The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious." This remarkable man spoke many great truths, some of which you can find below, among a few others. :)

IF YOU LIKE ROCKABILLY, PSYCHOBILLY, PUNKABILLY, GOTHABILLY, OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF MUSIC FOR THAT MATTER, PLEASE REFER TO THE LIST BELOW AND REQUEST THAT JANGO PUTS MORE OF IT ON HERE. I'VE FOUND PRECIOUS LITTLE PSYCHOBILLY MYSELF AND I CRAVE IT! THANX!
*******************************************************************************
*******************************************************************************
PSYCHOBILLY UPDATE; Yee-haw, Psychobilly fans! NEKROMANTIX , KOFFIN KATS, and METEORS have been added to Jango's playlist! Thanx very muchly to everyone who requested these bands! One "token" song each by The Ghastly Ones, Matadors, and Polecats have also been added, but the list of excluded bands is still long. The campaign is working, so keep up the good work, friends. PSYCHOBILLY MUSIC RAWKS! KEEP IT COMING, JANGO!
*******************************************************************************
*******************************************************************************
PSYCHOBILLY UPDATE for 29 June/08: Jango has now added a big list of Horrorpops , Mad Sin, and Hasil Adkins tracks, and one song each from 19 Horsepower, Amazing Crowns, Deadbolt and Satan's Pilgrims. Yahoo! The Creeps showed up when I was trying to program The Creepshow, so I left them on my station just to see what they sound like, LOL. Again, thanx to all you PB fans for requesting this great music, and feel free to use my updated list of Psychobilly bands to remind Jango of what we'd like to hear! RAWK ON!

PSYCHOBILLY UPDATE for 14 December, 2008: Just updated my "Comprehensive List" and it's sure getting long! I bet most Psychobilly bands have been pretty naughty this year, but Santa's list could be improved by the addition of these devilishly good musicians. And so could Jango's, so please keep your requests rolling in! :) As of this writing, about 6 months since my last update, Jango has added tons of new Psycho music, but WE WANT MORE, don't we, fellow Psychos? New bands include: Batmobile, Calabrese, The Creepshow, Demented Are Go!, Frantic Flintstones, Guana Batz, Hellbillys, King Kurt, The Quakes, Supersuckers, and Zombie Ghost Train! And they have added more tunes by these artists, too: Koffin Kats, Misfits, The Reverend Horton Heat, Southern Culture on the Skids, Stray Cats, and Voltaire. Great going, Jango Jugglers, keep it up! :)
I suppose my general interests might include Music (I'm here, aren't I?), Movies, Television, Books, and Sex.
Not necessarily in that order, mind you. :)
Why don't they have a box below labeled "Sex"? Oh, don't you believe it, I have more interests than that. But music is way up there, and so is sex, for that matter! But I also enjoy creating art (drawing, painting, sculpting), history, lifelong learning, raising my kids (yes, I DO enjoy this. . . occasionally), volunteerism, and did I mention sex? It's right up there, along with music. Lately, I have been campaigning for Psychobilly and Polyamory, not necessarily in THAT order!
*******************************************************************************************
What kind of sex do I like? Ah, for the answer to that, you must be a special kind of friend first before I will tell. But in general, I am very open-minded and am just waiting for my opportunity to spread my wings again. . . .
*******************************************************************************************
If you like my profile here, you might like to check out on MySpace, too: http://www.myspace.com/therunegirl but in reality I hardly ever visit there anymore. You're far more likely to catch this runegirl in the flesh right here at Jango!
Television, okay. The box itself is useful for watching movies on, anyway. Mostly it's used by the kinder for Gamecube and Disney/Pixar features. What would I watch if I ever got to choose? Probably Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad - on DVD, at my leisure. Definitely not the news. It's grisly enough hearing it on the radio; I don't have to SEE it, too, do I? Plus they get most of it wrong, anyway. I'd rather be on the computer talking with people like you (yes, YOU!) than watching (ick) network TV. Oh, maybe I'm being a little too hard on the TV industry. I have a few shows that I still watch occasionally: House, Medium, the CSI shows, My Name Is Earl, classic Trek and a few other retro shows, etc. Mostly I time-shift and watch TV on DVD. Ruby Gloom has apparently come out on DVD, too, but I haven't seen it yet.

Can I use this space to talk about other visual media I DO have some admiration for? Like many here on Jango, I'm an image-monger. My belief is that what's mine is yours; if you see something I have posted that you like, feel more than welcome to make a copy for yourself. And I will usually at least let people know when I admire their taste in imagery if I snitch a few pix from them (if I don't, just assume I'm pressed for time as I ALWAYS appreciate great pix and the people who post them). The only limitations to this rule (as I see it) are images that are obviously personal, like family photos or pix of the users themselves. I might get a bit huffy if I see my kids posted somewhere else, too! But other than that, enjoy yourselves, folks, if you would care to take a stroll through my picture file. I'd LOVE if Jango would come up with a way to organise them. I really need such a feature! I started out with about 69 pictures, and as of this writing I now have 69 pages of them! Virtual eyedrops will be Shouted to anyone who goes through the whole lot in one go. ;-)
Pulp Fiction is my all-time favourite. I collect Disney and other animated stuff, using my kids as an excuse, but I'd still buy them if I didn't have kids. I have too many other favourites to mention, although generally the categories include everything but chick flix and bad comedies. And there are exceptions to that rule, too. I have a fairly critical mind; I don't like everything I see, but I do have a wide variety of interests, and I can usually find something good about nearly anything. But there is so much mediocre trash produced, especially in the last 20 or 30 years, that I don't like to waste my time on it. There is also such a limited number of perfect or nearly perfect films just waiting to be discovered that it's hard to eliminate anything right off in case one of them might be a gem among the shit. I have seen a lot fewer movies than I'd like to see; my To Watch List is long. So my favourites are constantly evolving and changing anyway. Ask me if you're so interested!
Latest Update: At my new friend Nailartist's recommendation, I'm reading Hermann Hesse's Siddhartha, concurrently with Titus Alone and a few other things. Why are Hesse books so hard to find in my neck of the woods? UPDATE: Hey, guys, I finished Gormenghast in record time (for me) - only about 3 months! Titus Alone is a slow starter, but it will have a very hard time living up to the wordsmanship of Gormenghast. . . . FINALLY FINISHED Titus Groan by Mervyn Peake! Told ya I'd get there someday. Now I'm reading the second book of the Gormenghast trilogy, aptly called Gormenghast. I'll slog through it someday, too. Not to give the impression that reading this book is a chore, either. In fact, I marvel at Peake's sheer skill as a wordsmith and his ability to create characters that, although not necessarily believable, are endlessly surprising and entertaining. Capital 'C' Characters, IYKWIM. I read a lot of types of books, but I'm partial to youth fiction (too many individual authors and illustrators to even begin listing), Stephen King, John Steinbeck, Neil Gaiman (yes, his graphic novels as well as the "regular" kind of novels), Shakespeare, and a few poets, mostly of the Dead White Men variety. Sorry, it's what I was trained to appreciate. Also been reading some non-fiction lately: Tantric sex, Joseph Campbell's books, and Kurt Cobain bios. Any interested parties are invited to ask me about what other things I read, too. Like CD liner notes, I read a lot of those. And at Doc's recommendation, I am reading The Lurking Fear and other Stories by H. P. Lovecraft. Mighty fine wordsmith, he. Oh, and Lovecraft is good, too. ;) Do yourselves a favour, folks, and find something by Robert Rankin and read it. Laughter is good for the soul.

Okay, so I'm a quotation-monger as well as an image-monger. Can I help it if I admire a clever turn of phrase? Here are a few more, in case you're tired of reading the ones in my "About Me" section:
****************************************************************************
I am selfish, impatient, and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control, and at times hard to handle, but if you can't ACCEPT me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best!" - Marilyn Monroe
*****************************************************************************
"Love is a fire. But whether is is going to warm your heart or burn down your house, you never can tell." - Joan Crawford
****************************************************************************
"The most important thing is communication is to hear what isn't being said." - Peter F. Drucker (Who he? Dunno. Do you?)
******************************************************************************
"Those who dance are considered insane by those who can't hear the music." - George Carlin (R.I.P., you old fuck)
*****************************************************************************
"Do the right thing. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest." - Mark Twain
*****************************************************************************
"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it had gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." - "Litany Against Fear" from Dune by Frank Herbert, 1965.
****************************************************************************
"A ship is safe in the harbor but that is not what a ship is for." - unknown
****************************************************************************
Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that. -George Carlin (fuck, but he was brilliant, and it's tragic that I am just learning that now)

I just found a jackpot of wonderful words of wisdom from Kahlil Gibran, Lebanese-American artist, poet, and writer, 1883-1931: "Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair." "You may tie my hands with chains and my feet with shackles, and put me in the dark prison, but you shall not enslave my thinking, for it is free, like the breeze in the spacious sky." "But let there be spaces in your togetherness and let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls." "I have learned silence from the talkative, toleration from the intolerant, and kindness from the unkind; yet, strange, I am ungrateful to those teachers. " "Let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit." "Love... It surrounds every being and extends slowly to embrace all that shall be. " "Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars. " "A friend who is far away is sometimes much nearer than one who is at hand. Is not the mountain far more awe-inspiring and more clearly visible to one passing through the valley than to those who inhabit the mountain?" "When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight. " (There are a lot of these, but just a few more I MUST post, bear with me.) "Where is the justice of political power if it executes the murderer and jails the plunderer, and then itself marches upon neighboring lands, killing thousands and pillaging the very hills?" "Would that I were a dry well, and that the people tossed stones into me, for that would be easier than to be a spring of flowing water that the thirsty pass by, and from which they avoid drinking." "Yesterday is but today's memory, and tomorrow is today's dream." "Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens." Enjoy absorbing that lot, my friends. :)
