I'm 54l and a native Maryland gal and have recently moved to Rock Hall (the Pearl of the Chesapeake) MD. Married for 31 years on the 19th of January. I'm the daughter, wife and sister of journeyman plumbers. I can weild a mean plunger and a snake when I have too. I can fix a leaky faucet myself very well. I used to be able to perform basic auto maintenance as well but these damn cars now, I can't even find the damn dipstick to add oil or change it for that matter. I love the old muscle cars. Ah what I wouldn't give (if I had the money) for a muscle car with a 440 plant in it.
I'm a classic rock, hard rock and heavy metal (espeically AC/DC, Metallica and Motorhead) fan but I love just about all genres of music except heavy duty opera. I like classic country, music of the 50's and 60's. I like big bands especially Glenn Miller and Bennie Goodman. I adore Frank Sinatra, Doris Day, Ella Fitzgerald, Big Mamma Thornton, John Lee Hooker, Elmore James, R&B, jazz, blues. I can happily go from Led Zepplin to Frank Sinatra with no problem. I'm a child of the late 50's so I grew up with the Beatles and the legendary Motown artists along with most of the classic rock bands of that era. I don't think there isn't many bands of that time that I don't like at least a few of their songs. I don't get bored that way. There are some songs that even after all these many years that I still get chills listening to them. John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band found their way into my heart as Eddie Wilson and the Cruisers in the two films of the same name. I was one of those people that absolutely loved the film when HBO showed it. It never played in theaters in my area or I would have went to see it then. I loved the music so much in that film and still do. I'm so glad it's finally come out on DVD with the second movie as well. I don't know which soundtrack I like the best its hard to decide I love all that music so much. Michael Pare did such a bang up job lip synching to both those movies. Lip synching is extremely hard work and he pulled it off to perfection. I've never seen anyone that lip synched like he did in those two movies. To my mind, he is Eddie Wilson even though I know its John Cafferty and his band in the background playing the music they are the Cruisers. I love to read. I'm a true crime fan and a forensic junkie. I've been a practicing solitary witch for almost twenty years. I particularly loved and still love Led Zepplin's The Battle of Evermore as he is writing about the Wild Hunt. Heart did a nice version of this tune as well. Music, books, my family and my beloved submarines. My hubby and I are both ex-military. I served as a torpedoman's mate at the submarine base at Pearl Harbor Hawaii where I met my hubby when he was there for school. He rode on the USS Scamp SSN 588 for almost six years. She was one of the older Skipjack class fast attacks. You could fit three of her in the newer boats but she is still beloved it us. Scamp brought us together.
I haven't had cable for quite a few years. Cable got so terribly expensive I couldn't afford it but I loved the forensic shows like Bones, FBI Files and the like. My all time favorite for many years was Law and Order until the death of my beloved Jerry Orbach. It kind of fell flat after he passed. It didn't seem to be able to find the right combination of people to fill his spot. I love Saving Grace and The Closer, Ghost Whisperer for the first two years and Supernatural for the first two seasons as well. Thanks guys for giving us girls some eye candy to look at in Supernatural. You couldn't have picked two finer hunks of men than Jensen Ackles and Jared Padelecki. Jensen is my favorite. Michale Pare is still a hunk to me. I loved the era of the 70's for SNL with the original cast of the Not Ready For Prime Time Players. Thank you Netflix for having them on Instant Play. Thanks also to Hulu for letting me keep up with my favorite shows on telly without breaking the bank.
I love so many films it is hard to pick one just like my music I have varied tastes. Right now, I am just enjoying the hell out of playing Eddie and the Cruisers and Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie Lives kind of almost every other night. I'm probably driving my poor hubby with On the Darkside. I love the old classic black and whites. Humphrey Bogart is a particular favorite of mine along with Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, Henry Fonda and John Wayne for my favorite leading men of that era. More recent films I particuarly enjoy watching over and over are Hunt for Red October, American Gangster, Casino, Scarface, Carlitos Way, Serpico (lets face it anything with Al Pachino and Robert DeNiiro in it or directed by Martin Scorsese). I loved both Iron Man movies. They were an absolute delight to watch and not to mention they both have a killer sound track. You can't get any better than using AC/DC's Back in Black and Shoot to Thrill to open a movie. I adore the Blues Brothers movies. I love M. Night Shyamalan's movies. He always has an interesting plot twist that keeps you guessing what is really happening up to the last minute. I also like the way he always has a brief apperance in each of his movies reminenscent of Alfred Hitchcock. Speaking of which, I've never seen a bad movie of the master of suspense Mr. Hitchcock although William Castle's old thrillers were just as good too. Shoot 3D isn't anything new to movies he did it back in the 50's!
Anything forensic in fitction and non-fiction (I'm a forensic junkie). I adore Dr. Henry Lee's books blood spatter expert extraordinaire. What he can determine from blood spatter is like watching Chet Atkins, Angus Young or Jimmy Page play a guitar. I like True Crime, legal thrillers, techno thrillers, mysteries and paranormal themed mysteries or thrillers. I love the Mists of Avalon series, Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan series (the Hollows I beleive they're called), Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden series, Ann McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series and Todd's additions as well. He writes as good as his Mum. I love anything about the paranormal as long as its written well and isn't kitchey.
