About Me

Chi sono:

TALKIN' ABOUT ME! When you listen to Davide Frascella, even if you’re not deeply interested in country music and all the features which took part in moulding and becoming master of its sound, you can’t do without paying a certain attention and than getting closer to a world which shows soft and fascinating colours, a real watercolour. He knows what kind of colour is better to choose from the palette to make colours and tones go well together. Thousands and many more are the musical tones which characterize his world, a world which is the same for everybody, thanks to his accurate and authoritative notes, full of passion which arises from his knowledge, his words, from all the topics that he runs as if a song, a songwriter or an artist would be the beads of a rosary. If the radio could have longer time to use, he would tell us everything, during each little while between a song and one another. Today more than yesterday, when later in ’76 he took the first heavy and decisive steps. His stories could be compared to the John Ford’s myths, he introduced records completely unknown in those period, when disco music, such as “Saturday night fever”, was accepted more willingly. He spent thirty years working in a radio, and many others concentrating his passion on the first releases of singers like Conway Twitty, Don Gibson, Ricky Nelson,Bobby Darin and the Everly Brothers, artists that he used to appreciate since he was twelve; while the favourite singers of his contemporaries were Rita Pavone and Gianni Morandi, or Paul Anka and Elvis Presley, considered myths for those years, he was attracted by “unknown” names, such as The Minstrels, Kenny Rogers and Kim Carnes. He had already music in his blood, but he didn’t know he got something else deep inside: he was able to convey “good vibrations”, perceivable through the accurate premises that he made before listening to a certain song or kind of music. After a short time, he began to host “water colours”, a broadcasting programme over one of the first Italian free radio-station, ‘Radio Taranto Stereo’. Since then, country music started to be less mysterious to listeners of those and other Italian radio-stations, such as some “frequencies” owned by the RAI Broadcasting Radio Stations, where he had worked as musical consultant and as author of several broadcasting programmes oriented towards country, folk, pop and rock music. A low and confidential voice, a perfect pronunciation, a good mastery of the English language are the features that led him to musically attract three generations. After the arrival of internet, being a good traditionalist, he had many doubts about. Even the switchover from vinyl to compact disc caught him unprepared, just think what might happen with the web! What would Woody Guthyrie, one of the country music fathers, have said if he had been faced with a flat screen which he would have interacted with? We will never know, but one thing is true, if he had seen “the good” David to fold up and he would have asked him! Hey Dave what do you want? Claudio Frascella -Journalist - Studio 100 GROUP'S Program Director. David, what do you want? Claudio Frascella..........................
