I am a truly distinguished non-entity! :)
An orthopaedic surgeon in New Delhi like my father and grand father before me. I practise out of Apollo Hospitals, Delhi, where I am attached as a Consultant in Orthopaedics. Within the specialty, my interest lies in Sports Injuries, Joint work (replacements and all), Rehabilitation Surgery (I am one of the seven surgeons in India that have trained in the use of the Ilizarov Method of Treatment) and Pain Management (sometimes called Prolotherapy).
Another professional interest is Medical Tourism. I receive patients from the overseas that come to India for treatment. As an orthopaedic surgeon, I treat the orthopaedic patients myself, and the others, I refer to the most suitable specialist and hospital. Medical treatment in India is at par with any Centre anywhere in the world, and the cost of treatment in India is 25 % of what it is elsewhere. Patients coming to me are usually those with cardiac problems; cancers; those requiring joint replacements (I do these myself); thoise requiring organ trasplants (liver, kidney); IVF and assisted Reproduction, and those that come for cosmetic surgery (including surgery for weight reduction).
Most of the patients who come to me are from the Russian speaking world; it helps because I am fluent in Russian.
Music, practically all the way. And besides that, reading and writing; travel; cooking, dogs, coffee, art and the cinema. In no particular order.
Discovery, NatGeo and History, and F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and Frasier. From the older set, Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister.
I am a serious student of the cinema. My favourite directors include Ray, Chaplin, Woody Allen, Ustinov and many more.
Too many favourites to recount, really. Wodehouse is a perennial favourite; then there are the following, to name a few: Maugham, Moupasaant, Moravia, Tagore, Chekhov, O Henry, Mark Twain, Saki, G.K. Chesterton, Richard Gordon, Henry Cecil, Roald Dahl, and many more.
