Salutation of Hopi Tribe in America
We Are the Ones We've Been Waiting For ...
We have been telling the people that this is the Eleventh Hour
Now you must go back and tell the people that this is the Hour
And there are things to be considered.
Where are you living?
What are you doing?
What are your relationships?
Are you in the right relation?
Where is your water?
Know your garden.
It is time to speak your truth.
Create your community.
Be good to each other.
And do not look outside yourself for the leader.
This could be a good time!
There is a river flowing now very fast ..
It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid ..
They will try to hold onto the shore.
They will feel they are being torn apart and they will suffer greatly.
Know the river has its destination.
The elders say we must let go of the shore, and push off and into the river,
Keep our eyes open, and our head above the water.
See who is in there with you and Celebrate.
At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally.
Least of all ourselves.
For the moment that we do,
Our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt.
The time of the lone wolf is over, Gather yourselves!
Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary.
All that you do now must be done in a sacred manner
And in celebration.
'We are the ones we've been waiting for...'

Great Spirit Guide Us
Grandfather, Great Spirit, you have been always,
And before you nothing has been.
There is no one to pray to but you.
The star nations all over the heavens are yours,
And yours are the grasses of the earth.
Grandfather, Great Spirit, fill us with the light.
Teach us to walk the soft earth as relatives to all that live.
Help us, for without you we are nothing.
The Sky People
We come before you in humility with bowed heads and hearts that are true, and ask that you hear our prayers. We pray that Mother Earth be healed. We pray that the weather patterns be restored to peaceful balance so that all may enjoy the bounty of Mother Earth.
We ask that those who are homeless find shelter; that those who are hungry be fed; that those who are cold find warmth. We ask that each of your children discover the true meaning of becoming a Human Being, and that each person reach out to those in need to offer help and comfort in whatever ways are possible.
We ask that the Spirit of Brotherhood shine brightly in each of us and all of us. We ask that the Spirit of the Sundance live in our hearts, and that each of us and all of us feel responsibility for our fellow man, and for Mother Earth. We ask that each of us and all of us become active in restoring harmony to each village we live in, and to all the Villages of Earth.
We ask for healing for each of us and all of us who suffer illness of the body, mind, and spirit. We ask that the source of the illness and distress be healed, never to return. We ask that pain be removed; that distress and anxiety be replaced with peace; that sadness be replaced with joy; that tears be replaced with laughter; that intolerance be replaced with understanding; that suspicion, hatred and anger be replaced with love.
We ask that each of us and all of us remember to give thanks each day for life; that we see the beauty of the world around us; that we recognize the many blessings we are given; and that we are able to seize the opportunities that are placed before us.
We ask that those who have crossed into the Spirit World be greeted with warmth and love, and that they find peace. We ask that those who have been left behind to complete their personal earth walks be granted comfort, and peaceful understanding.
Your children are needy, Great Spirit. We come to you for help and for comfort. We thank you for hearing our prayers.

Chief Seattle Letter
The President in Washington sends word that he wishes to buy our land. But how can you buy or sell the sky? The Land? The idea is strange to us. If we do not own the freshness of the air and the sparkle of the water, how can you buy them? Every part of this earth is sacred to my people. Every shining pine needle, every sandy shore, every mist in the dark woods, every meadow, every humming insect. All are whole in the memory and experience of my people. We know the sap that courses through the trees as we know the blood that courses through our veins. We are part of the earth and it is part of us. The perfumed flowers are our sisters. The bear, the deer, the great eagle, these are our brothers. The rocky crests, the juices in the meadow, the body heat of the pony, and man all belong to the same family. The shining water that moves in the streams and rivers is not just water, but the blood of our ancestors. If we sell you our land you must remember that the air is precious to us, that the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports. The wind that gave our grandfather his first breath also receives his last sigh. The wind also give our children the spirit of life. The air is precious to the Red Man, for all things share the same breath. The White Man does not seem to notice the air he breathes. Like a man dying for many days...

CHEROKEE PRAYER BLESSING
MAY THE WARM WINDS OF HEAVEN BLOW SOFTLY UPON YOUR HOUSE.
MAY THE GREAT SPIRIT BLESS ALL WHO ENTER THERE.
MAY YOUR MOCASSINS MAKE HAPPY TRACKS IN MANY SNOWS, AND MAY THE RAINBOW ALWAYS TOUCH YOUR SHOULDER.
"The first peace, which is the most important, is that which comes within the souls of people when they realize their relationship, their oneness with the universe and all its powers, and when they realize that at the centre of the universe dwells the Great Spirit, and that this centre is really everywhere, it is within each of us. This is the real peace, and the others are but reflections of this. The second peace is that which is made between two individuals, and the third is that which is made between two nations. But above all you should understand that there can never be peace between nations until there is known that true peace, which, as I have often said, is within the souls of men."

Listen for your angel's voice in music, in kind words, and in loving thoughts.
An Indian Prayer

My grandfather is the fire
My grandmother is the wind
The Earth is my mother
The Great Spirit is my father
The World stopped at my birth
and laid itself at my feet
And I shall swallow the Earth whole
when I die
and the Earth and I will be one
Hail The Great Spirit, my father
without him no one could exist
because there would be no will to live
Hail The Earth, my mother
without which no food could be grown
and so cause the will to live to starve
Hail the wind, my grandmother
for she brings loving, lifegiving rain
nourishing us as she nourishes our crops
Hail the fire, my grandfather
for the light, the warmth, the comfort he brings
without which we be animals, not men
Hail my parent and grandparents
without which
not I
nor you
nor anyone else
could have existed
Life gives life
which gives unto itself
a promise of new life
Hail the Great Spirit, The Earth, the wind, the fire
praise my parents loudly
for they are your parents, too
Oh, Great Spirit, giver of my life
please accept this humble offering of prayer
this offering of praise
this honest reverence of my love for you.
"You live on Earth only for a few short years which you call an incarnation, and then you leave your body as an outworn dress and go for refreshment to your true home in the spirit." - White Eagle
TREAT THE EARTH WELL; IT WAS NOT GIVEN TO YOU BY YOUR PARENTS. IT WAS LOANED TO YOU BY YOUR CHILDREN. WE DO NOT INHERIT THE EARTH FROM OUR ANCESTORS, WE BORROW IT FROM OUR CHILDREN.
ANCIENT INDIAN PROVERB
The first story comes from The Sioux Tribe--back in the 19th century*:
In the moon of black cherries Kicking Bear
brought news of the Paiute messiah, Wovoka,
the prophet of the ghost dance. It spread across
the badlands like a prairie fire from tribe to tribe.
When the government got wind of this, they said, "I don't know
what this, Ghost Dance, is, but I don't even like the sound of
it. Tell all Indians it is now illegal." When they refused
to stop practicing their form of worship, on December 29, 1890,
the cavalry massacred three hundred unarmed Sioux, mostly
women and children, at Wounded Knee.
When the last red man shall have become a myth
among the white men, when your children's children think
themselves alone in the field, upon the highway or in the silence
of the pathless woods, they will not be alone. In all the earth there is
no place dedicated to solitude. At night when the streets of your cities
are silent, and you think them deserted, they will throng with the
returning hosts that once filled them and still love this beautiful
land. The white man will never be alone.

Coyote - The Trickster
There is much the Indian has learned
from old coyote -
He is an actor - he would play dead
A magician, a survivor and a powerful
singer
He always wants it both ways
Is he like us or are we like him*
It is the flash of a firefly in the night
It is the little shadow which runs across the
grass and loses itself in the sunset.

A Song of Greatness
a Chippewa Indian song
When I hear the old men telling of heroes,
telling of great deeds of ancient days,
when I hear them telling, then I think
within me I too am one of these.
When I hear the people praising great ones,
then I know that I too shall be esteemed,
I too when my time comes shall do mightily.
-Brahman proverb
When two love each other, the very angels leave heaven to visit their home and sing for joy.
"When the Power of Love overcomes the Love of Power, then we will have Peace." ~ Jimi Hendrix
The RAINBOW symbolizes "beauty of all colors"---regardless of color or race, your true beauty lies within.
The soul would have no rainbow if the eyes had no tears.

There is no surprise more magical than the surprise of being loved. It is God's finger on man's shoulder
"A life without love is like a year without summer."

Prayer for Friendship
You have blessed us, O God,
with the gift of friendship,
the bonding of persons
in a circle of love.
We thank you for such a blessing:
for friends who love us,
who share our sorrows,
who laugh with us in celebration,
who bear our pain,
who need us as we need them,
who weep as we weep,
who hold us when words fail,
and who give us the freedom
to be ourselves.
Bless our friends with health,
wholeness, life, and love.
Amen.
O Great Spirit, Whose voice I hear in the winds
and whose breath gives life to all the world,
hear me, I come before you, one of your children.
I am small and weak. I need your strength and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty and make my eyes
ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made,
my ears sharp to hear your voice.
Make me wise so that I may know
the things you have taught my people,
the lesson you have hidden in every leaf and rock.
I seek strength not to be superior to my brothers,
but to be able to fight my greatest enemy, myself.
Make me ever ready to come to you
with clean hands and straight eyes,
so when life fades as a fading sunset,
my spirit may come to you without shame.

Shoshone Love Song
Fair is the white star of twilight,
and the sky clearer at the day's end;
But she is fairer, and she is dearer.
She, my heart's friend!
Far stars and fair in the skies bending,
Low stars of hearth fires and wood smoke ascending,
The meadow-lark's nested,
The night hawk is winging;
Home through the star-shine the hunter comes singing.
Fair is the white star of twilight,
And the moon roving
To the sky's end;
But she is fairer, better worth loving,
She, my heart's friend
No one is a friend to his friend who does not love in return.

Universal symbol for spiritual unfoldment
Egyptian Lotus flower
The Egyptian Lotus flower symbol was called Sesen in the Egyptian language. In the Egyptian mythology the lotus flower is a symbol of the sun, of creation and rebirth.
Eastern Lotus flower
In the East, the lotus flower is viewed as a symbol of spiritual unfoldment. The lotus has its roots in earthly mud, but as it grows upward in aspiration toward the light, its petals open out in a beautiful flower. Om Mani Padme Hum, meaning, "Hail to the Jewel in the Lotus" is the sacred mantra of the Tibetans.
Christian Lotus flower
The Christian alternative to the lotus is the white lily which, relating to Mary as queen of heaven, signifies both fertility and purity. Traditionally the Archangel Gabriel carries the lily of the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary. "Blessed are the pure in heart," said Jesus, "for they shall see God." The teachings of the Galilean Master and those of India's great yogis were cut from the same cloth of self-realization.
Indian Yoga Lotus flower
The Indian Lotus flower symbolizes divinity, fertility, wealth, knowledge and enlightenment. It is associated with the goddess of wealth, Maha Lakshmi, who brings prosperity, purity and generosity. She sits on a fully blossomed lotus flower, symbolizing purity, beauty and
everything that is good.
"We were talking - about the space between us all and the people -
Who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion never glimpsing the truth
Then it's far too late when they pass away.
We were talking - about the love we all could share
When we find it - to try our best to hold it there - with our love
With our love we could save the world - if they only knew
Try to realize it's all within yourself - no-one else can make you change
And to see you're really only very small
And life flows on within you and without you.
We were talking - about the love that's gone so cold
And the people who gain the world and lose their soul
They don't know, they can't see - are you one of them?
When you've seen beyond yourself
Then you may find peace of mind is waiting there
And the time will come when you see we are all one
And life flows on within you and without you."

WOMEN AND WOLVES
A healthy woman is much like a wolf, strong life force, life-giving, territorily aware, intuitive and loyal. Yet seperation from her wildish nature causes a woman to become meager, anxious, and fearful.
The wild nature carries the medicine for all things. She carries stories, dreams, words and songs. She carries everything a woman needs to be and know. She is the essence of the female soul...
With the wild nature as ally and teacher, we see not through two eyes only, but through the many eyes of intuition. With intuition we are like the starry night, we gaze at the world through a thousand eyes.
