Aloha! Not much to say, except that I'm an old fart. Home is now on the big island of Hawaii. I love all the songs your parents listen to, and probably lots more. Single, white boy, never married, too ordinary, straight, brown hair, some salt and pepper, more every day, but I used to be a redhead. My eyes used to be green, now always bloodshot. About 5 ft six or seven, weigh about 200lbs, but not counting anymore. Built for comfort, not for speed. Born on the mainland, in Los Angeles, grew up all over Northern and Southern California. Currently, I'm learning to be a farmer and grow KONA coffee on our family's organic plantation. If I sound like a dweeb or other geek, it's because I don't get out much. Bad eyesight and a severe nervous disorder have kept me a shut-in. Jango is awesome and a real life saver.
Love everything except bad art, bad films, bad TV, which is most of it and bad music, dig? Bad novels, bad food, bad weather. No, actually, I love severe thunderstorms with tornados and hailstones. Lots of lightning while winds toss cars and stuff all about. I LOVE black women, petite women in their 30's and early 40's. Love cats, no dogs, love birds, love kids, love food, love Classical Music, play guitar and piano; love online radio; Talk too much. Love to travel. Lived in Las Vegas for about ten years. Some of it was fun; most of it was a nightmare that is finally over. PEACE.

Pet Sounds is 928. Get all of those surf classics. SMILE if you can find it. Controversial topic I know. I heard Brian Wilson perform the finally completed often aborted masterpiece follow up to PS, live in Vegas around 2004. Like Disney animatronic characters singing beach boys classics. I honestly LOATHE most TV. It was simply better when I was a kid and while growing up, but it's always been a crap factory. During this past decade or so, it seems to be worse than ever. Why I subscribe to things like AMC and TCM. They consistently show great films. Love TVLAND, at least when it began, but am very sick and tired of MASH and 60's rural sitcoms, beverly hillbillies, etc. Love TBS, TNT and the best of em all, Chicago's very own WGN. GO CUBBIES. I love FOX's animation domination, although maybe the Simpsons should hang it up now that they've done their movie. Love Comedy Central, most of the time, South Park, mostly and their movies.
I hate most contemporary movies. LOVE AMC and TCM, especially the latter because it plays films uncut and commercial free. They also feature Guest Programmers and highlight Stars by the Month. Also like the Essentials on Saturday evenings, although I often doubt many of the selections are indeed essential. Just saw Quantum of Solace, and after reading most of the reviews first, expected it to be mediocre. Instead, it rocked, and I loved it, although its pace lost me. With most BOND movies, I need to buy this and watch it repeatedly until I can follow it along. Some took years, others, like most of them featuring Roger Moore as 007, are only good to shitcan. He ruined the character for almost twenty years. Anyway, I may have to rewrite this part again, as the first attempt got too long. Maybe I should just list specific films. Dr. Zhivago directed by David Lean; Most of the Star Trek films except the first one. Don't like the TV series with Patrick Stewart very much, although I dig many of the newer characters. North by Northwest by Alfred Hitchcock, my favorite Director, still the master of suspense.
Vertigo, Rear Window, the Lodger, Psycho, Most of the Indiana Jones franchise, except this last one jumped the shark, I'm told. I even loved Purple Rain, although mostly I hate PRINCE. Double Indemnity, the Postman Always Rings Twice, Kiss Me Deadly, most film noir classics; Eyes Wide Shut, A Clockwork Orange, Full Metal Jacket and most films by the late, great Stanley Kubrick; Love Woody Allen, older and later works as well. ATLANTIC CITY, THE GODFATHER FILMS, 2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY, STAR WARS FILMS, MOSTLY THE FIRST ROUND. MANY LATER CHANGES AND FILMS SUCK. RIO BRAVO, OCEAN'S 11, THE ORIGINAL RAT PACK, THE SONS OF KATIE ELDER; THE WAR WAGON, SHE WORE A YELLOW RIBBON; DODGE CITY, ERROL FLYNN CLASSIC; GONE WITH THE WIND; THE MISFITS, HATED TRUE GRIT, BUT STILL LOVE JOHN WAYNE; THE GREEN BERETS; SILVERADO, LIFE OF BRIAN; MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL; THE MEANING OF LIFE; MEL BROOKS' ROAD WARRIOR FLIX; LETHAL WEAPON MOVIES; MAVERICK; THE EXORCIST; APOCALYPSE NOW; BRUCE LEE'S FILMS; FISTS OF FURY; ARNOLD'S MOVIES, LIKE COMMANDO; OH, AND THE TERMINATOR FILMS; ON HER MAJERSTY'S SECRET SERVICE, A GOOD FLICK WITHOUT SEAN CONNERY; GOLDFINGER, DR NO, FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE, THUNDERBALL, FOR YOUR EYES ONLY, LIVE AND LET DIE, DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER, THE STING, BUTCH CASSIDAY AND THE SUNDANCE KID; COOL HAND LUKE, HUD, RIP TO PAUL NEWMAN; ALSO LOVE HOLLYWOOD MUSICALS, LIKE SINGING IN THE RAIN, GIGI, BELLS ARE RINGING, AN AMERICAN IN PARIS; FRED ASTAIRE AND GINGER ROGERS MOVIES. THE UNTOUCHABLES, KEVIN COSTNER FLICK, BULL DURHAM, NO WAY OUT. THE ORIGINAL DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL; OLD FIFTIES SCIENCE FICTION MOVIES, TIME MACHINE, WAR OF THE WORLDS, AND FRITZ LANG'S METROPOLIS. OH, CASABLANCA, HIGH SIERRA, THE CAINE MUTINY, ALMOST ANY FILM WITH BOGART, KEY LARGO, BUT NOT TREASURE OF THE SIERRA MADRE; CHINATOWN, ROMAN POLANSKI, TESS, JAMES CAGNEY MOVIES; GANGSTERS FLICKS, FROM THE THIRTIES, IN GENERAL, I prefer Film Makers, directors, and even the old STUDIO BOSS system in Hollywood, rather than STARS and celebrities. HATE BRAD and ANgelina. She is occasionally a fine actress, but doens't belong in the tabloids or gossip columns. He is a better actor than his recent work. I left out several films, like the BATMAN franchise, but basically I've been influenced by many artists. Don't forget the Graduate. I loved Rain Man, too. Midnight Cowboy, Little Big Man, and most of Dustin Hoffman's work were masterpieces, except TOOTSIE. Just plain stupid film. Beneath him and his talent. Some chick flicks are ok, but mostly, well, the genre is silly. Oh, this time I forot TYLER PERRY. He is the most refreshing comedy film maker to come along in decades. LOVE his films. No one writes for females nor create believable female roles better than he. He is unique. Will Smith started out great but went wrong. He must learn to say no to doing CRAP. He also is a better actor than his films. Gotta go. Sorry about the gabfest.
Oh, most everything written since folks began writing novels. Favorite authors include Dickens, Oscar Wilde, GB Shaw, Fielding, Swift, Philip Roth, Gore Vidal, Kurt Vonnegut, RIP, E.L. Doctorow, Mark Twain, George Orwell, the BIBLE, I've even read the Koran, yes, the Kama Sutra. I absorbed as much as I could while growing up, letting everyone influence me. Perhaps I should just list titles? Animal Farm, 1984, Huckleberry FINN. By the way, I abhor Censorship. SO This shout goes out to the Chicago and IL DOE: End your asinine BAN on Huck FINN, you STUPID Idiots. Let readers think for themselves, decide what is and isn't the greatest American novel. MORONS. Fathers and Sons by Turgenev, Breakfast of Champions, Slaughterhouse Five and Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut, the Clown by Heinrich BOLL; Brave New World by Aldous Huxlety, and its sequel, BNW Revisited; A lot of Science Fiction, books by Isaac Asimov, Theordore Sturgeon, Arthur C. Clarke, and anyone I forgot. Robert Silverberg. David Gerrold, an old Star Trek writer who also wrote novels. Stranger in a Strange Land, Fahrenheit 451, that man just died the other day, author of the Andromeda Strain, Michael Crichton. He was a very accomplished and talented man. Dostoevsky, was Chekhov a better playwright than author? I love his plays, but his short stories are probably better. Edward Albee, Tolstoy, Flaubert, Dumas, Victor HUGO, Pushkin, Honestly, I favor verse, plays over fiction, epics over basic poetry, that's why I love Virgil, Homer, and Dante, the best poet in Western Letters. Most latins, satirists, playwrights, even Shakespeare, Marlowe, and some contemporary dudes. Yes, I've even read Gone with the Wind, ladies, and LOVED it. It is all it's cracked up to be. Oh, Eliot, Ezra Pound, e e cummings, robert frost, roethke, dylan thomas, OSCAR WILDE said at his trial, "There are no moral or immoral books. Books are well written or badly written. That is all. His Picture of Dorian Gray is a well written novel. Wilde said that at his trial. I try to avoid bad art of all kinds. Period. As a kid, I loved the Lord of the Rings, despite all of the elves, trolls, fairies, and other fantasy stuff, wizards, sorcery, but ate it up. It still makes me cry, and the films were a triumpant job of adaptation. Almost perfect in every detail. Mostly I dislike franchises and sequels, especially Harry Potter. Started out ok, but became a cash cow for Warner Brothers, who has never learned to say no to money even when they can wallpaper LA with their profits. or wipe themselves. Or roll in it, dig? Batman franchise, too. Thanks for listening. Sorry I gab a lot. Love ya.
