I had a funny afterthought about destiny today. Right after I read this 4th grade level book. Who would think that you could learn anything about destiny from a book that fell under required reading for me six or seven years back. I thought about what destiny is. Most people believe destiny is an act of fate that is simultaneously and act of god. And sure that’s all fine and good if you’re a church-going, born again Christian of the 20th century; however, I think destiny is way above Mr. Almighty. Destiny is kind of like a truck, in almost every sense of what a truck is. It’s big and overpowering and built to move…always. It usually cuts you off at odd times when you least expect it and whenever it crosses our path, we’re like…shit. And the most incredible likeness that most people don’t usually recognize is in that off chance when we do get hit by a big, plundering, not stopping, fat-ass truck, our life is changed forever. So now to my point. I thought about destiny because I was thinking about my life. Shocker, I know. I was thinking about how I’ve been waiting to be found. Like suddenly the guy I love will realize all the things he loves about me or all the things he misses or that my parents will see that I’ve grown or that my grades will magically turn to A’s. But what I realized is that everyday that I wait; I waste a little bit of my life. Because frankly, life is not about being found, it’s about finding things. I’m wiling to leave behind what I find so important because I believe that eventually, in a sweet collision of destinies, people’s fates and lives will once again be so intertwined that absolutely nothing could tear them apart. So I’m going to stop trying to be found cause you’ll meet the people you love again this lifetime. When destiny decides to hit you like a big friggin’ truck.
