The world know, you're his girl

Someone to whom the very thought

Of you bring such great delight

Someone that's there to wipe

Away all your tears

To hold you in his arms, and

Make you know you're his

Someone to lean on when things

Are going rough

Someone to let you know that

Someone to inspire you to

Always do your best

By the one man I’ve always dreamed of.

I’ve waited for so many years

For the time when he will make me his

My arms are so empty, my eyes so very dry

I’m so filled with longing pain, I can't even cry

You told me you love me, with all of your heart

But it doesn't mean very much when we are still apart

Letters and phone calls, don't mean a thing

When the distance between us remains the same

When will this waiting be over, when are you coming home?

I’m so very tired of waiting; I’m tried of being alone.

Do you still love me? Do you want me for your very own?

If this is all true my darling, you had better come on home.

I’ve tried to have patience while you gave your job your all,

So if you still want this girl, you had better get on the ball.

You have a month, love, and it's your job or do you want me?

I think that's enough time for you to decided just what it would be.

If by one month and a day, you are not at home,

Don’t worry anymore about this girl, she will be long gone!

I saw your sweet smiling face today

You seemed as if you were a million miles away

I wanted to come to you, just feel one touch of your hand

Then I stop and remembered, that you are no longer my man

If only I could turn back the hands of time

Back to those wonderful years when you were still mine

We were so very happy; we loved each other so very much

We didn't need words, just a smile, a kiss, or a touch

Then we began to change and I wondered why

We went separate ways; our love began to die

We didn't want the same things as we wanted before

You wanted less, I wanted much, much more

You couldn't come to terns with this fast changing world

You were still a little boy; I was no longer a little girl

I had grown into a woman; you refused to be a man

This was the day all our troubles began

You wanted me all locked up in a world you had created yourself

You said you had all you wanted, you didn't need anyone else

I knew right then, this was the end for you and I

We had no place to grow; we had to say good-by

We parted with well wishes, both of us shaking hands

Knowing in our hearts, we would never be together again

My heart is filled with sadness of the thought of love gone dead

But I shall never forget the beautiful years we shared.
