About Me

Well, I used to enjoy teaching Kayak and Canoe lessons, but my band has taken over. I enjoy any music that means something posative, reflects the inner persona, or simply takes me somewhere. Like our guitarist so beautifully put it..."We are homoescapians". I love my friends... they are like family. I am a firm believer in the thought that family is your family sort of by accident. Not to say I automaticly discredit my family, I simply hold them in about the same reguard as everyone else. I am intrested in truth (deeply). No, really there's obviously a lot to say here so let's just leave it at that.

Interests

Living, Leisurely Physical activities, this site's cool too, trying to get into contact with old friends that either I left or have left me. Drinking. I love my friends, The Hermetic Arts of Divination, Michael Tsarion is the MAN! Music, Theatre, dimension altering "things", Comedy, Pottery (especially on the wheel), any of the arts... all forms are beautiful when done with some form of purity or whatever that thing is that makes art good. Creating music (in a bands and solo) collective groups have always fascinated me. Having happenings of any kind (drum circles to sneezing contests... whatever). Man... Hell I dunno. I quit.

Television

Mr. Show!, The Office (British version), Sealab 2021, Andy Milonakis Show, Reno 911, The Aqua Teens, Robot Chicken, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development, The Science Channel (especially Planet Earth), Harvey Birdman, Ali G, I don't even have cable (no time), but I have a lot of DVD's of these shows.

Film

The Waking life, A Clockwork Orange, anything bearing the name "Lawnmower Man", Goodfellas, This is Spinal Tap, Team America, Royal Tenenbaums, Origins and Oracles (yeah), Clerks, Pollock, Pi, Ace Ventura, Coffee and Cigarettes, Pulp Fiction (and friends), Donnie Darko, Math Men, Fight Club, lots of documentaries on drugs, music, anything reflecting culture and humanity, Trainspotting, Vampire Hunter D, Private Eyes, Stupidity, Young Frankenstein, Young Einstein, quite a gang of local films, and many more to come!

Books

1984, How to Evade Felony Conviction, The Egoist, The Divine Comedy, Inferno, Thus Said Zarathrustra, The Bolyen Inheritance, Farenheit 451, Emerson's works, The Elegant Universe, anything against Rush Limbaugh, owner's manuals to appliances and electronics I own, and many more that I don't think I should have to list right now, maybe later.

You are welcome. As to the suicides and lethal overdoses the kill some of our favorite artists, they were, as you say, unnecessary. I agree. However, human beings all too often become distracted by immediate, seemingly insurmountable problems, and surround themselves with people who are little better than parasites, who they bestow too much leverage over them - instead of looking at the bigger picture and being more selective. Sometimes the demons and pain inside that people use alcohol and other drugs to quash and numb unleash even worse, more nightmarish ones. And sometimes, people get distracted by the immediate heartbreaks, treacheries and temporary money and romantic worries, they have accidents and get ill from self-neglect and mounting stresses. People are people. They have the potential to be gods but more often opt to ape what is going around them, that all too often trigger demons within. It is sort of like dancing on quicksand. However gifted or successful, artists and hyped superstars are not immune. There are parasitical stars who steal from the brilliant unknown. There a creative genuises whose brilliance is hidden by a lack of exposure and the over-exposure of the glorified mediocrity that is marketed incessantly; like suns eclipsed by a parade of new (dark) moons. There are madmen posing as leaders. In a world gone mad, it is easy to lose sight of what is actual and what is precious and important. It is easy to lose oneself, even as the crowd reaches for the illusion they think is you and applauds.

"Stupid way to die"? According to the roadie who was watching, he was passing time wading in the Wolf River, a small alluvial tributary of the Mississippi, while waiting for his band to arrive by airplane in nearby Memphis; and, just having moved to Tennessee, he was not aware of either the deposits of clay, silt, sand and gravel, or the strong undertow. The autopsy confirmed that he was not drinking or taking drugs at the time. However, a tugboat passing by may have caused enough of a wave and undertow to submerge him, and pull him under, with the river undertow doing the rest. Stupid? Not really. He may have been misinformed or ignorant of the local situation; but I cannot think of anything he was doing that was purposefully or unwittingly self-destructive or due to a lack of intelligence. The man was an extremely RARE and remarkable talent. It is, if anything, very sad that just a accident occurred just as he was setting these up to record a follow-up album to 'Grace.'

Though all our minds my be unique and different, there are obviously many things that we appreciate that are similar or even, in some instances, as you suggest, the same.
