INTRODUCTION

Many times I have sat down to pray and had the list of needs that I felt led to pray about dry up in just a few minutes. The prayer session then seemed to become a struggle to keep focused upon Yahweh and just spend time with Him. As I have continued to study the Torah and other writings it has become apparent that prayer is a most critical requirement if our relationship with Yahweh is to progress as it should. If that is the case, why is it so hard to just sit down and communicate with our Creator? Why is the thought of spending an hour in quiet prayer such a burden? The thought of spending time with Yahweh/Yeshua so exciting until I sit down to start.

Over the years I have accumulated several good Siddurs (Prayer Books). While both Jewish and Messianic Siddurs are available in my library, because of my lack of ability to read Hebrew, I have tended to be intimidated by them. This brief Siddur is being written in “English only” in order to help others begin to see the blessing of the ancient Psalms and prayers. The use of those Psalms will assist us in preparing for a time of prayer. Many of the ancient sages teach that it takes an hour of preparation before you are really ready for serious communication with Yahweh. My hope is that as you become more comfortable with the Psalms and prayers in English that you will begin to learn the transliterated Hebrew. While I do not think that Hebrew is the only language of prayer, I do think it will be a blessing to pray in the language that Yeshua used.

You are encouraged to purchase a good Messianic Siddur for your home. There are several available, one that I like is presented by Messianic Rabbi Paul Todd. Should you desire to purchase one of Rabbi Todd’s Siddur please let me know and we will be glad to provide information for you to purchase a copy.

The material in this paper is adapted from Rabbi Todd’s material and several other Messianic Siddur.

BLESSING UPON ARISING

I gratefully thank You, living and existing King, for granting me another day with compassion, abundant is your faithfulness.

HAND WASHING BLESSING

Before washing the hands, the following scripture may be recited:

“The earth is Yahweh’s, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For He has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. Who shall ascend into the hill of Yahweh? Or who shall stand in His holy place? He that has clean hands, and a pure heart; who has not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.” (Psalm 24:1-4)

As the water is poured over the hands, the following blessing is said:

Blessed are you Yahweh our Elohim, King of the universe, who has sanctified us by Your commandments and has commanded us concerning the washing of hands. I dedicate my hands to Messiah, the hope of glory, to serve him only.

BLESSING UPON DONNING THE SMALL TALLIT

Blessed are You, Yahweh, our Elohim, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments, and commanded us regarding the commandment of tzitzit. (Shemot {Num} 15:37-41)

BLESSING UPON DONNING THE TALLIT

Blessed are You, Yahweh, our Elohim, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments, and commanded us to wrap ourselves in tzitzit. (Davarim {Deut} 22:12)

BLESSING UPON DONNING THE ARM AND HEAD TEFILLIN

Stand while putting on the tefillin, place the arm tefillin upon the left biceps, hold it in place ready for tightening, then recite the following blessing:

Blessed are You, Yahweh, our Elohim, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments, and commanded us to put on the tefillin.

Tighten the arm tefillin and wrap the strap seven times around the arm. Without any interruption whatsoever, put the head tefillin in place, above the hair line and between the eyes. Before tightening the head tefillin recite the following blessing:

Blessed are You, Yahweh, our Elohim, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments, and commanded us regarding the commandment of tefillin.

Tighten the head tefillin and recite:

Blessed is the Name of His glorious kingdom for all eternity.

After the head tefillin is in place, recite:

From Your wisdom, O supreme Elohim, may you imbue me. From Your understanding give me understanding, with Your kindness do greatly with me; with Your power cut down my foes and rebels. (May) You pour goodly oil upon the seven arms of the menorah, to affect all Your creatures with Your goodness. (May) You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. (Psalm 145:16)

Wrap the strap around the middle finger and hand according to your custom. While doing this, recite:

I will betroth you to Me forever, and I will betroth you to Me with righteousness, justice, kindness, and mercy. I will betroth you to Me with fidelity, and you shall know Yahweh. (Hoshea 2:21-22)

HOW GOODLY ARE YOUR TENTS OH YA’AKOV

How lovely are your tents, oh Ya’akov, your dwelling place, O Israel. (Numbers 24:5)

Yahweh, through Your abundant kindness I will enter Your house,

At this point, gather the four tzitzit between the fourth and fifth fingers of the left hand. Hold tzitzitot in this manner throughout the Shema.

And bring us to peace from the four corners of the earth, and lead us with pride to sovereignty in our country. For You are the Elohim who executes salvations, You have chosen us from among all nations and tongues. And You have brought us closer to Your great Name forever in truth, to thank You and distinguish Your Oneness with love.

THANKGIVING

We thank You, for You are Yahweh, our Elohim and the Elohim of our forefathers forever and ever. The rock of our lives, the shield of our salvation, You are in every generation. ESTABLISH PEACE

Establish peace, goodness and blessing, graciousness, kindness and compassion upon us and upon all Israel Your people. Bless us our Father, all of us as one with the light of Your countenance, for with the light of Your countenance You gave us, Yahweh our Elohim, the Torah of Life and a love of kindness, righteousness, blessing, compassion, life and peace. CONCLUDING PRAYER

My Elohim, guard my tongue from evil, and my lips from speaking deceitfully (Psalm 34:14). To those who curse me, make my soul silent, and make my soul like dust to everyone. Open my heart with Your Torah, and my soul will pursue Your commandments. And those who plan against me evil things, speedily nullify their counsel and disrupt their plan. Act for the sake of Your Name, act for the sake of Your Right Hand, for the sake of Your Holiness, act for the sake of Your Torah. For rescuing Your beloved ones, let Your Right Hand save and respond to me. (Ps 60:7)

MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE

Master of the Universe who has reigned before anything was created,

At the time that everything was created at His will, then “King” was His name proclaimed. After all has ceased to exist, He, the Awesome One, will reign alone.

And He was and He is, and He shall be in Glory.

And He is One – and there is no second, to compare to Him, to declare as His equal.

Without beginning, without end, He has the might and dominion. And He is my Elohim and my living Redeemer, and the Rock of my salvation at time of trouble.

THE DISCIPLES PRAYER

Our Father, Who is in Heaven, Holy is Your Name. Your Kingdom come, Your Will be done, in earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the Kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Lord I know I'm a sinner and that without you I am lost.

Please forgive me for my sins, for the sins I've committed against others, and help me to forgive those that have sinned against me.

I believe that you sent your Son, Yahushua, to die on the cross, that He rose again 3 days later, and that He is coming back for me.

I accept your gift of salvation, and ask that you come into my heart and be my Saviour. Fill me with your Esteemed Spirit and give me all the blessings promised in your Word and those that you want to give to me.

Help me to live for you from this day on.

Prayer for Freedom

Father Almighty and All Powerful, Yahweh Elohim, today I confess my interest and involvement in the occult. I realize now that I have been involved with demonic and unclean spirits who have deceived me, stolen from me, and blinded me. Yet I know that you are greater than all these powers that oppress me. I call upon you now to deliver me from any and all bondage to the devil and his devices. I thank you for the authority through the Anointed Yahshua to be the agent in my own deliverance.

This day I renounce any and all involvement in occult practices, false religions or psychic phenomena. I break any curse that has come upon me through my own dealings in the occult, or any dealings of my ancestors. I cut any ties to the dark world of the devil with the sword of the Spirit. I plead the blood of Yahshua over me and over my house, that we might be protected from the revenge of Satan.

Deliverance from Evil Spirits

I speak now to any evil spirit that has oppressed or possessed me through my past sins. I proclaim that my body shall be the temple of the Spirit of Yahweh, and you, unclean spirits, have no place in my temple. I command you to cease and desist your evil work against me, and adjure you by the name of Yahshua the Anointed of Nazareth to leave my body, my house and my life. By the blood of Yahshua, all you evil spirits that have been connected with me or mine are bound with cords that can't be broken, and Yahshua casts you into the prison for spirits deep in the earth. Foul serpent, now you are under my feet. You have bitten my heel, but through Yahshua the Anointed, I have bruised your head.

Prayer for Salvation

Now, Father Yahweh, I ask you to restore a right spirit within me. I do invite and accept the spirit of Yahshua the Anointed, your Son, my Savior and Master, into my being. And I ask you to fill all the empty places in my life with your Spirit of Yahweh, that I might no longer sin against you. Thank you for saving me from the evil one. Thank you for delivering my soul. Thank you for protecting my loved ones, my congregation and me. Thank you for loving me despite myself. Now I praise you for all you have done for me this day. In Yahshua’s precious name. Amein.

Prayer for Protection

Father Yahweh, I ask you to protect my family [or mention names] from sickness, from all harm and from accidents. If any have been subjected to curses, hexes or spells, I declare these curses, hexes or spells null and void in the name of Yahshua the Anointed. If any evil spirits have been sent out against us, I decommission you in the name of Yahshua the Anointed and I send you be his authority into the underworld pit. Then, Father, I ask you to send your holy angels to guard and protect all of us. Through Yahshua our Master and Savior. Amein.

Cleansing Prayer

Father, I thank you for sharing with me your wonderful ministry of healing and deliverance. Thank you for the healings of the past and those I have experienced today. But I realize that the sickness and evil I encounter are more than my humanity can bear. So cleanse me of any sadness, negativity, residue or despair that I may have picked up.

If my ministry has tempted me to anger, impatience or lust, cleanse me of those temptations and replace them with love, joy and peace. If any evil spirits have attached themselves to me or oppress me in any way, I command you, spirits of earth, air, fire or water, of the netherworld or of nature, to depart now and go straight to Yahshua the Anointed, for him to deal with as he will.

Come, Spirit of Yahweh, renew me, fill me anew with your power, love and joy. Strengthen me where I have felt weak and clothe me with your light. Fill me with life.

And Father, through the Sovereign Yahshua the Anointed, please send your holy angels to minister to me and my family, and to guard and protect us from all sickness, harm and accidents (and guard me on a safe tripe home, and grant us a peaceful night’s rest).

I praise you now and forever, Father, Son and Spirit of Yahweh. Amen.
