They were not solely responsible for devising folk-rock, but they were certainly more responsible than any other single act (Dylan included) for melding the innovations and energy of the British Invasion with the best lyrical and musical elements of contemporary folk music. 06.18.08 I met the Byrds when I was 14yrs. old in New Orleans. It was the first time I ever saw a man Roger play a 12 string guitar. I thought that was so cool. I love that Bible song still today Turn,Turn,Turn.I have it in my 60's collection. |

02.16.08 I was at university ( in Salisbury, Rhodesia, a town and a country that no longer exist)when I first heard the Byrds. Some hippies from the States who had hitched down through the whole of Africa had a copy of Tambourine Man with them plus a bag of a herb new to me. Both blew my mind. Now the music does . That's all I need now I am older! |
