About The Band

Origin: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Decades: 1960's, 1970's, and 1990's

For about six years, from 1968 through 1975, the Band was one of the most popular and influential rock groups in the world, their music embraced by critics (and, to a somewhat lesser degree, the public) as seriously as the music of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Their albums were analyzed and reviewed as intensely as any records by their one-time employer and sometime mentor Bob Dylan. And for a long time, their personalities were as recognizable individually to the casual music public as the members o... Read More

Clearly remembering sitting with some friends chewing the fat, reading a newspaper article about the Band's breakup or perhaps that they wouldn't regroup. The reporter asked one of them, I think it was Danko, Why don't you guys do another album, the fans want it. He said (paraphrasing him) ... "no, we ain't gonna do it because you realize that you become your own joke." Its stuck with me for nearly 35 years. How it don't matter the big money, the fame, and the sideshow. If your heart ain't in it no more, you gotta let it be. Take a listen and look at the youTube video here on this page for It Makes No Difference. this was a together group of brilliant musicians, singers and songwriters. Still miss their music...

I saw The Band in Cleveland with Crosby Stills Nash and Young, and a whole bunch of other bands. I think the year was 1972. I also think it was at Cleveland Stadium. Anyone else remember this. PL
