Zack Borer has always approached his music as an evolutionary process. From his early years playing in smoke filled college bars to currently fronting his own New York City band, Zack, often recognized by his big hair, continues to draw from new experiences and influences to create songs that are unique to his blend of rock/funk pop. With a love for Motown, jam bands, new-wave pop, folk, and everything in between, it is hard to pinpoint what kind of song Zack will write next. Backed by some of New York City’s most talented musicians, Zack has attracted both local and national attention in the past few years. With side-stage performances at The Nikon-Jones Beach Theatre supporting The Dave Mathews Band and Jason Mraz, Zack was also named a top 5 finalist in the MTV VMA’s “Best Breakout Artist in NYC” competition. Zack’s song “That’s The Way” was recently licensed by Google as a preloaded song for their Nexus 1 device, and a number of his other tunes were selected by Sprint Wireless as free weekly downloads.
Zack also has a strong desire to use his music for good. For the past two years, Zack has been an official Lifebeat “Hearts and Voices” artist, performing for HIV-positive patients all over New York City. He is also involved with the children’s charity “The Art of Elysium,” has been a performer at the MS Bike-A-Thon 2 years running, and plays a major role in the global men’s health charity Movember. All proceeds from Zack’s November shows, including an exciting benefit concert and artist showcase, will go to Movember.
With the release of his latest EP “Dollars Spent on Nothing”, available on all digital retailers, Zack continues to play to sold out crowds in NYC, and is excited to bring his music on the road in early 2011.
