During the busiest, wildest four years of any young man’s life, it can be easy to lose sight of goals and- more importantly- the means of achieving them. Staying focused on the future has proved demanding, but not impossible for 20-year-old Brian Chinn, the producer/singer/MC behind Warm Gun. At age 7, Chinn began playing guitar and has since established a notable background in blues, classical, jazz, and rock music. This understanding of different styles and influences has lent itself to Warm Gun’s unique approach to hip-hop, which encompasses elements of indie rock, pop, electronica, and alternative. With three years left until graduation from the University of Washington, there is still time to develop musically and live life to the fullest-- but this is no reason to slack off. Warm Gun is moving full-speed ahead, generating music, engaging listeners, and hopefully making an impact on an industry that can always benefit from what is new and innovative.
“Eccentric” LP
Two years worth of writing, recording, singing, rapping, and producing has culminated in Warm Gun’s first full-length album, “Eccentric”. Independently released and distributed, the record utilizes soulful hooks and a lyrical style reminiscent of Atmosphere or even early Kanye West. Many tracks stand out as collaborative efforts, with features from artists like Sol, Hailey Hoff, Nick “Nitro” Spencer, Int’l. Mo B (of the Home Team) and others. Brian Chinn comments, “the record was intentionally kept rooted towards a more indie feel, as a sort of benchmark to work outward from. This isn’t to say that it’s simplistic or dull, just that it’s the kind of music I enjoy listening to and performing at the moment. The catchy party cuts will be on the mixtape, don’t worry.” Look for the “Eccentric” LP, available for download on iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, Last.fm, and other digital retailers.
