Under Eden formed in 2000 as a three-piece - guitarists Ryan McAtee and Christian McAtee, and drummer Josh Fetzek - influenced by American thrash and Scandinavian melodic black/death metal. The "Songs from the Savage Circle" demo was released in 2003, starting the band on its ever-evolving course of concept-based songwriting. With the addition of Erik Thon on lead vocals, Under Eden became a true performing unit, and the international release of the full-length "The Savage Circle" in 2005 put them on the metal radar. The "Phoenix on Frozen Wings" EP was released in 2008 to strong reviews, further solidifying the band's foundation in extreme concept metal.
