Biography

From: SC, United States

Genre:
Pop, Dance, Soul

A hungry independent artist, Torelli (born Dre Giancarlo Torelli) is a young musical phenom who has shattered all expectations of what makes an R&B/Pop superstar. After attending the private liberal arts institution Furman University on full choral music scholarship, this self taught (and further trained) musician is a singing/songwriting double threat who embodies what it means to be a child of the 90s. His influences range from Prince,Al Green, Eric Benet, Maxwell and Michael Jackson to modern musicians like Usher, Ne-Yo, Musiq Soulchild, Avant and John Legend. Torelli's music is filled with unexpected twists, glittery synths, sumptuous melodic layer-cakes, and straight-up dance tracks that move you in the club. He says "I'm doing it all left field, pushing the envelope."

Torelli’s talent has not gone unnoticed by numerous media outlets nationwide. He’s performed at many concerts and live venues nationally including Atlanta's AC3 Music festival,The Voice Charlotte mini-competition, Florida A&M University and the very popular New York hip hop spot, Club Element. Torelli is a South Carolina-born charmer and the shining son of Haitian and Italian parents. Charming, effortlessly stylish, oozing with talent, and perpetually humming a sweet falsetto tune, Torelli springs forth from a cultural heritage that “allowed me to just express myself without any restrictions. No handcuffs,” he says. It was at Furman where his eyes and ears grew widest. “It just refined who I am as a musician. It opened up my ears to a lot more genres. I got to hear gospel singers, alternative music, contemporary, more jazz. All of those things play a part in who I am as an artist.” With all this talk of classical training and musical dexterity, it’s easy to forget that Torelli’s a  professional wrestling-obsessed cultural food enthusiast, barely out of college. However, the worst assumption anyone can make about Torelli is that he's anything but extraordinary. Torelli says it best: "I think now more then ever, people are scared to be creative and different. But it's the people who step outside the box are gonna win."
