The original Gospel Saints were found in 2004 by Ed Williams, Billy Finney,
and Patrick Ellis. They organized under the name of the Heaven Bound Singers of Chicago which consisted of several other member's. After discovering that another group had the same name, The Heaven of Indiana, the group decided to change their name. It was agreed that the group would be called "The Gospel Saints."
Things began to happen for the group. They recorded their first album
"Thank You Lord" in 2004 which was loved by many radio personalities, their peers and fans. Some of the member's sought out new ventures, and those member's had to be replaced. Ed remained steadfast and unmovable due to the circumstances, and made a vow that he would not allow the group to go into oblivion.
The year 2010 was a new era that surprised many. Ed Williams paid a visit to Pastor Perry Mamon in the hospital where he was recovering from surgery. They had previously worked together while Mamon was with another group, "The Dynamic Mighty Wings" of Aurora, Illinois. Ed shared what he had in mind to Mamon on organizing and doing some work together musically. Although weak from surgery, they harmonized on a tune. This proved to be magic. Upon release from the hospital, Ed and Pastor Mamon begun to work on new material for the new group. In three months, they wrote and recorded nine songs along with Cleophus Hill. Many of these songs you will find on this CD. They organized under the name of Cleophus, Mamon & Williams. They were signed by the "Tate Music Group" of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for one year. The group did not want to exercise their option. Hill decided to drop out, and two former member's of the Original Gospel Saints were brought in. They were Thravis Butler, and Willie Gaylord Anderson. This union brought the new name, "The New Gospel Saints." The group is on fire, to say the least. Each of us have many years in secular and gospel music, and this is what we love to do, because there is a message in our music!
