Elyssa Vulpes started playing guitar at 16 years of age but didn’t perform until she left Italy and moved to Scotland when she was 18. Her music, at that time was Scottish ballads and English folk music. She began to write her own material and did solo performances (guitar and voice) under her name. After years of battling her personal demons, she began to collaborate with others to bring her image, technique and performance to the next level. After creating and dissolving a band who didn’t meet her expectations, she began to play as a guest musician with other artists. She would take those performances and record them on her latest CD, “Pearl Of Blood”.
Elyssa sings in both English and Italian, and although this album is in English, as one hears the dialect along with the texture of her own voice, a specific European sound unlike any other is created. Fuse all these aspects together and you have a profound sound with a profound artist who creates dynamic music with dynamic imagery. This is an international artist of the first degree.
Elyssa is currently working on an Italian CD since her return to Europe after living in New Zealand for 15 years. She has returned to her roots and embracing it with open arms. This journey that she’s on is a desire to not only understand her own being but to share what she’s learning along with way with her audiences around the world.
The Moon Whispers, as she is known by, has opened for the Handsome Family in New Zealand. She has also played at the Wellington Folk Festival in 2008 which is also in New Zealand. She is planning to promote her new Italian songs by playing in Italy and the UK and also playing English songs at Indie festivals all over Europe.
