The Jellybeans are a vocal group made up of ten girls from Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Jersey City, NJ. They began singing together in the third grade as part of the children’s choir and by the fifth grade had branched out to form their own group. They began recording in 2010, while in the sixth grade, with an album called, ‘Back in School.’ It was their idea for a school fundraising project and it contained six songs from their school concerts. That project turned out great and earned them a lot of praise as well as invitations to perform at different venues, including an appearance on live television. The Jellybeans were also featured in an ‘Artist Spotlight’ by The Independent Music Awards for their sixth grade album of children’s music; the youngest artists ever so featured.
The Jellybeans followed that up with a very impressive album, 'No Time For A Bad Day,' the next year while in the seventh grade. With their voices maturing, they had now developed a nice ‘girl group sound’ and they describe their pop/rock music as 'Jellybean Pop.' It’s all fun for them, but they do work hard and know how to perform at a high level for their ages.
The girls recently graduated from the eighth grade and have just started high school. They have another album in the works, recorded while they were in the eighth grade, and the CD will be out May, 2013. In the meantime, the girls have released a new single from that album for which they received a great review as well as a new Christmas song.
