The Despicable Little Man Music

I don't know how I got this way. I can't afford the corvette for my midlife crisis, so I'm writing, singing and playing guitar. Genres are all over the place. That's what technology, education and a younger wife will do to you. Started as a sideman on sax, played with rock, blues, blues rock, jazz, jazz rock, bar mitzva bands, chick mitzvah bands, country. Never sang unless people were really drunk, I was the secret weapon at the end of the night. Moving in that direction nowl I figure every person has a voice and maybe it should be heard. Like guitar, especially the bluesy, old fender tube amp modelers. Lyrically I tend to describe events and situations that occurred in my life, maybe you can relate. As the gigs are few and far between, I do not have a regular band, I tend to do all the instruments and performances myself. I use Logic Pro mostly these days, but in the past have used Live, DIgital Performer and ProTools. I always had difficulty with the Midi in ProTools so stayed away from that. I like Selmer, Fender, Apple, IK Multimedia, Neumann and M Audio Instruments. I tend to look at them as tools, except the sax and guitar which I look at as voices.

My most recent song, "Melancholy" is a guitar instrumental in a Bluesy, jazzy vein, with some sounds from Pink Floyd, Jeff Beck and others I had bouncing around in my head when I wrote and performed it. The song developed from a short piece that was used in a short film. Starting with chord changes, I improvised to it many times and developed the melody out of that. I've had few technical issues on sax, but with the guitar I am forced to funnel feel through the available technique. It's an interesting challenge for me.
