THE BLACKOUTS - New EP only $5!
The Blackouts may have day jobs, but they are full-time rock-and-roll. This independent and sexy all-girl rock band, based in Denver, formed in early 2009 after individual attempts with other bands. Their first jam proved electric and the group hit the Denver scene. Their quick success is demonstrated in the classic local venues they have played including Herman’s Hideaway, Benders, Three Kings Tavern, City Hall and even headlining at The Bluebird.
With iconic 70s and 80s rock and punk influences like The Pretenders, Fleetwood Mac, AC/DC, and Metallica, the Blackouts naturally rock classics like Joan Jett’s “Do You Wanna Touch,” Concrete Blonde’s “Still in Hollywood” and L7’s “Shit List.” And though a solid cover always gets the crowd going, The Blackouts’ original work speaks for itself with songs like “Tease,” “Crash and Burn,” and “Bad Girlfriend.” And although hot all-girl bands are quickly compared to others that came before them, The Blackouts are in a league of their own and thank the Denver music scene for their support that got them where they are today.
The Band
Darci - Lead Vocal
Darci’s been singing since she can remember, everything from Annie to hard core punk to pop. And you certainly wouldn’t know it to look at her, but she’s a cowgirl at heart, growing up on a Colorado cattle ranch.
Bands in her Heart: Led Zeppelin, Buck Owens, General Public
Ali - Guitar/Vocals
Ali played guitar as a teenager, but dropped it when real life happened. She recently picked it up again, found The Blackouts, and her true REAL life began.
Bands in her Heart: Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Guns N’ Roses
Kate - Guitar
Kate grew up in England in the 80s with music all around her. She could not help but be influenced by the ingrained punk scene and exploding first wave phenomena, although she does confess to her own thrasher phase.
Bands in her Heart: L7, Megadeath, ABBA
Jenn - Bass
Jenn has music in her blood; her father is a professional musician, then she married Nelson’s guitar player. Today she holds her own and even plays some of the same Denver venues as dear ‘ole dad.
Bands in her Heart: The Ramones, Sick of it All, L7
Hope - Drums
Hope picked up beating on drums when she moved to Denver at 24, after watching her music teacher brother teach others. When she wasn’t sneaking into her neighbor’s place to play his set, she was actually training horses.
Bands in her Heart: Led Zeppelin, Sublime, Metallica
