Born in Montreal, grew up in northern Ontario and recently relocated to the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia, Sylvain has been involved in many facets of the music business for 30 years.
As a young teen Sylvain persistently pleaded with his parents to get a piano so he could learn to play. At the time his parents couldn't afford one so instead he got a violin for his 13th birthday. Sylvain still plays violin to this day.
When he finally got a piano at age 15 he started composing immediately. the "Ten Peaks" was Sylvain's first orchestral compostition completed when he was 17.
Post secondary was spent at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto as well as U of T and UWO. After university, Sylvain studied Bel Canto for 8 years with Brian Vollmer, the lead singer of the Canadian heavy metal band "Helix".
Besides playing classical music, Sylvain played and toured throughout North America with various rock and country bands, sharing the stage with Long John Baldry and also opening for the likes of Jeff Healey, Colling James, Martina McBride and Keith Urban.
Sylvain has since released two solo New Age CD's "Portraits From the Wilderness" and "Timeless Journey"
These days Sylvain can be found working in his studio composing for TV and passing on his knowledge through private music lessons in Bel Canto, piano, composition, woodwinds, violin and guitar.
