Silent Lapse let the excitement of their original music guide the formation of the band. Their first full-length album was being written before they knew who was going to be playing it. Brothers Mitchell and Taylor Feldpausch spent long hours crafting about 1/2 of the material in a remodeled hog shed (don't worry, the smell is long-gone) before they assembled a band that could perform the material live. They found Scott Martin and Matt Schrauben through an online metal forum that Matt created and Wyatt Aldrich who was a friend of the brothers.

The music that most influenced their own is that of Pink Floyd, Metallica, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, and Dream Theater. The music is melody-driven and their songs are guided by variations of recurring themes that are easily recognizable and have staying power. Silent Lapse makes a conscious effort to avoid "filler." Every part is crafted with their own good taste in mind. With the release of of the debut album "Birthright" the band has reached new heights and is rapidly gaining fans around the world.

Hi guys, since I heard "The Wake" on Jango for the first time, I have been a fan of your awesome music. Some time ago you were so kind as to send me your CD. Thank you so much! Please carry on making such wonderful music. It would be absolutely great to see you in Germany one of these days, maybe you could make it to the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg? It is a platform for up-coming bands but also features some better-known musicians. I am sending a link so you can see what it is all about. http://www.reeperbahnfestival.com/en/ Wishing you all the success you deserve Susanne
