Sean Music

Sean’s passion for music started at an early age, and was constantly looking for opportunities to learn about music. By eight years old, Sean started guitar lessons, and shortly thereafter he began writing his own songs. Sean had an impressive ability to write lyrics that were fueled by emotion, and could easily articulate his message through his music.

Eventually Sean’s love of singing and songwriting lead him to an interest in playing a number of instruments including guitar, drums, piano, and sitar (a plucked stringed instrument mainly used in Hindustani classical music).

Sean Murphy's deep, laid back approach to music has its beginnings from his roots in Lanikai, on the island of Oahu in Hawaii, and although Sean’s style is influenced by artists like Dave Matthews, Jack Johnson and Bob Dylan, Sean Murphy resides in a league of his own. Sean’s powerful and sincere lyrics appeal to a broad audience, and his music is gaining visibility in Japan (where he is already Top 5 in the charts), Canada, the Netherlands and Australia.

Sean has gained the attention of musician Bryan Adams and internationally known music producer David Foster. “During the years I have seen a great number of incredible talents and worked with a lot of superb artists,” says Foster, “but rarely will you find such raw talent and passion in someone that seems to elevate music to a higher standard.” From there it was not long before Mike Jean and Salvatore Albert Bazile of Moonlight Entertainment Records to quickly sign Sean to his first record deal.

Listening to his music, the lyrics ring true for those reflecting on a time when they have loved and lost. The first single, "Us” touches the feelings we have all had when attempting to reflect on a lost love and make sense of it all, while Same Damn Thing was inspired by a television show involving a girl who was a dancer at a club who wanted to make a better life for herself. “I could sense the sadness in her voice, and that's what inspired me to write this song."

We look forward to Sean Murphy’s debut album One Life, which will be released August 2009, and getting to know him better through his music.
