“Sparks Fly” a HOT AC, pop-synth number co-written by Sarah Melody, John McLaughlin, and Dave Thomas. Sarah Melody singer/songwriter/performer and youth spokesperson from Barrie Ontario Canada has been on the WATCHLIST over the last 7 years in the Canadian music industry. Melody just returned back from Glasgow Scotland where she spent 9 months on her Sarah Melody School Tour while studying to receive her Bachelor of Arts in Commercial Music. Now back in her native land, Melody has released her latest single “Sparks Fly” off her second album, to Canadian and UK radio. While studying in Glasgow, she met top UK pop writer John McLaughlin (Westlife, Busted, 911, and 5ive) and producer/songwriter Dave Thomas (Rookie Blue, Brothers and Sisters UK).
With the recent “changing of the guards” Melody is taking a DIY approach in this single driven market. Melody, 21, is already a young entrepreneur who understands her market and industry. At 18 she graduated with honours from Harris Institute in Toronto Ontario and earned a scholarship to receive her BA. Sarah Melody Biography:
Sarah Melody is an emerging pop star and songwriter on the Canadian music scene, and she’s poised to share her talent with the world. Melody has earned the respect of her peers in the music industry, who consistently describe her as “mature”, “confident”, “committed”, and most importantly, “lyrically and vocally gifted”.
Her artistic talent was easy to observe from a very early age. Melody (her actual middle name) has been focused on studio recording and live performance for the past several years, honing her skills with her 4 piece band in support of her debut full-length album, Side Two, released fall 2007.
Known for her versatility in style its no surprise that this artist has recently CROSSED OVER to create her own unique sound being coined as “pop/urban-rock” which combines rock and R&B vocals with rock and urban music. SIDE TWO album is a diverse collection of ballads, smooth R&B joints and up-tempo pop hits. Sarah is currently writing new tunes for her second album. Co-writers include Brian Allen (Toronto, HEART, Lee Aaron), Chris Perry (Keshia Chanté, Shawn Desman, George, Kalan Porter, Alli Sims), Rob James (McMaster and James), and Angie Ricci (Sarah Melody’s mom).

Sarah is a seasoned live performer and public speaker, having been featured on YTV, CFTO, TV Ontario, Rogers Cable and numerous print, on-line publications including CHART ATTACK and private community and charitable functions. As the national spokesperson for Youth for Human Rights Canada she speaks to students about their basic human rights. Sarah represented Canada in August 2009 at the world Youth Summit at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
