Royce Hall aka Jwahari(pronounced Wa-ha-ree),is an artist like none other. With the combination of hip hop, funk, soul, and jazz, Royce Hall blends a distinct recipe of soulful music with passionate lyrics, often described as Mos Def and Lauryn Hill meets Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. As a multi-instrumentalist, Royce is a versatile MC with not only rhyme patterns and punch lines, but also expertise as a clarinetist, pianist, bass and acoustic guitarist, trumpet, and percussionist. Royce, a native of Salisbury, Maryland, is based between Miami and Tallahassee, Florida as well as Atlanta, GA. Having the honor of opening up for and/or sharing the same stage as artists such as Talib Kweli, Brian McKnight, Cesar Comanche, Lauryn Hill, Cody Chessnutt, Natalie “The Floacist” Stewart (of Floetry), just to name a few, Royce has been a feature artist 3x on the playlist for MC Lyte’s organization, Hip-Hop Sisters (only 6 songs are chosen internationally). Originally a battle MC, Royce has an impressive record of 44 wins and only 2 losses, which include the BET Black College Tour and, after so many wins, retirement on several radio stations MC battle series. Described as one of the most anticipated artists and songwriters of 2012, Royce, conceives lyrics for a variety of mainstream and underground hip-hop, soul, jazz, funk, r&b, gospel, house, and blues artists/vocalists, leaving not one genre untouched by this unearthly effect. In October of 2010, Royce was the feature artist on a segment of “Goin’ In Radio” with hosts Jazzy F. Baby, VH1’s Mz. Berry and Alishia S. where Royce was interviewed and “Vision Impaired” (Prod. By Ashanti “Mad Violinist” Floyd of Kane Beatz and Symphony Crack and violinist for Lupe Fiasco) debuted followed by a feature on "Fearless Radio" in Chicago, IL, WVFS 89.7FM "The Voice of Florida State University" and WANM 90.5FM "The Flava Station" of FAMU and many other broadcast mediums . Royce is currently finalizing the highly anticipated debut album, ENC 1101: THE YEARBOOK, (slated for a summer 2012 release) within the booths of legendary Patchwerk Recording Studios, Creacetionz Music, Tree Sound Studios, Capricorn Studios, The Village, 360 Music Studios and Signature Sound Studios in southern California and a few other historical studios. Most recently, Royce had the honor of being chosen as 1 of 24 nationally selected Style Icons by Cotton Inc. in assoc. with MTV and participated as a runway model for Cotton's 24 Hours of Fashion, which took place November 17-21,2011 in South Beach Miami and was hosted by E!’s Giuliana Rancic with live streaming and coverage on mtv.com, E! Online and Fashion Etc Online as well as those respective channels. This once in a lifetime experience has afforded Royce with additional resources and avenues for success. Aside, from music, fashion, and film, Royce’s first book of erotica entitled, “Morning After Mimosas”, will be released mid 2012. Royce’s debut album is said to be “ground-breaking” as well as reviving the kinship between Hip-Hop and Soul music.
