Richard is the son of SUN Records rockabilly legend Carl Mann (best known for his 1959 million selling hit “Mona Lisa”). Richard was born in Paris, Tennessee and made his first public singing appearance there at the age of nine. He spent the next few years singing in contests, at fairs, and benefits throughout West Tennessee and also made several radio and television appearances before the age of twelve. During his teen years, Richard performed occasionally in the Chicago area where he lived with his mother. He headed back south at 17 when his family relocated to Bowling Green, Kentucky. For the better part of the 80’s, Richard lived and performed in Europe playing in a band doing military clubs and events and many festivals and private functions. They fronted for touring artists including Johnny Paycheck and Freddy Fender. He had virtually shelved his music until 2005 when he performed with his dad at the International Rockabilly Hall Festival in Jackson, Tennessee, where he proudly witnessed his father be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He returned to Jackson to re-appear at the festival in 2006, following that up with some studio sessions. He also made an appearance with his dad in Holland at the “Rock Around De Werft” Festival in Kaatsheuvel. Richard is now trying to re-establish himself as an artist and follow in the footsteps of his famous father. His new singles, "It's Not The Coffee" and "Thunderbird Night" have recently been released on the reborn Jaxon Label. He is currently overseas again and looks forward to hearing from artists, fans, family, or anyone who shares his interest and respect for the legacy of music.
