“Go to Church, Charlie Brown”
I am the Rev. Charles E. Brown, also known as “Charlie B.” I was born August 5, 1979 in Houston Texas. Thanks be to God my fate in this world is much different than the comic character with whom I share my name.
A quick history lesson of the fictional Charlie Brown reveals a child filled with determination and hope, who is ultimately dominated by his insecurities, a "permanent case of bad luck,” and often taken advantage of by his peers.
I am ever grateful our similarities begin with our names and end with our shared determination and hope. The greatest and first difference being our points of origin: he, created by a son of a barber and I, by the Creator of the world and all mankind: God. Because of this, I know and prove to be victorious against weapons and enemies who attempt to keep me from prospering and praising the Lord.
A proud child of God, I love my Savior: His son Jesus Christ. Thus, I am filled with Christ’s love for my family, music and His people, both the saved and unsaved.
I first took an interest in music at the tender age of two and since I've always been involved in various music ministries within my church, St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, which is under the direction of the Rev. S.T. Hillard.
Under his leadership, I have developed a sincere appreciation and love for the word of God in its entirety, however, my favorite scripture passage I’ve used to guide me through life is Proverbs 3:5-6 which directs us to:
5 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths."
God has called me to serve others as a minister, touching people all over the world by introducing and bringing them closer to Him through scripture and music. Artists from whom I gain inspiration include John P. Kee, Hezekiah Walker, The Winans, and Boyz II Men and many more.
With the God-ordained connection to Blessed Mind Productions, we believe we can accomplish our shared purpose to use musical influences to edify the body of Christ and make believers of those who don’t believe, by shaking up the world with music that is truly from God's heart.
