Raining Ember is the musical collaboration of Douglas Shearer and Wendy Roddick, bolstered by the creative talents of Ottawa Producer/Engineer/Arranger extraordinaire, Dean Watson.
Shearer is a Canadian singer, songwriter and musician who was born in Montreal and credits this vibrant North American city for nurturing his interest in music. His song writing partner Wendy, a Brockville, Ontario native, provides the harmony in his life and in his music. Her dulcet tones are featured prominently on most of the duo’s songs.
A fortuitous meeting with renowned Ottawa Producer/Engineer/Musician Dean Watson (The Gallery Studio) five years ago has led to a creative confluence of musical energy. Dean is a skilled arranger and plays guitar and bass on most of the tracks featured here. What started as collaboration on a few demos has spawned enough material for several albums. Raining Ember’s debut album is tentatively scheduled for release in 2013.
Shearer cites Bruce Springsteen as a major influence and acknowledges being inspired by bands such as America, The Eagles and Blue Rodeo. The Song How Many Hearts features the unique vocal stylings of local country music star Nelson Colt www.nelsoncolt.com while lead vocalist and guitarist Connor McGuire of The Murder Plans www.themurderplans.com provides lead vocals on Home Again & What Do Ya (Do Ya) Want.
