Post Trauma Band is a Jagermeister Sponsored Artist from Fullerton; CA. Comprised of members Billy Ulrich, Kenny Ulrich and Joey Gnoffo, the band has played over 200 concerts in just 3 years. Their compelling spectacles quickly earned them a reputation as one of Orange County’s premiere live acts, and also caught the eye of hard liquor heavy weight Jagermeister.
In 2011, the band began work on their first full length release, and their inclination to go to extremes on stage carried over to the recording process. Instead of putting out a short demo as most band do at first, Post Trauma Band went all the way, spending a year writing and recording a double disc release entitled ‘Sleepless, Dreamless.’ The first half of the double album, ‘Sleepless,’ was released to astonishing critical acclaim in November of 2012. MTM called Sleepless ‘A rockin’ ballsy record,’ while The Levity Ball labeled it ‘A welcome transcendence,’ and even likened front man Billy Ulrich to one of his idols: Billy Corrigan.
‘Sleepless’ is on the lighter side of the bands musical spectrum. It’s an entertaining series of storytelling songs that combine Country twang, nostalgic symphonies, classy Rock guitars, a healthy sense of humor and true emotion. SoundLooks said that "At times you’ll feel like clapping, at times you’ll be stomping and at times you’ll even be crying. But, you’ll enjoy every second of every song if you can dig a dash of bluegrass, a dash of country-rock and even a pinch of Southern gospel. As the old saying goes, “They don’t make ‘em like this anymore”...
In support of the album, Post Trauma Band produced 2 full length music videos. ‘Get Up in the AM’ released in November 2012 quickly became the working man’s anthem. Complete with bikini clad Playboy Bunnies and the echoes of the Boss’s reprimand, Post Trauma Band carried out every working person’s fantasy by smashing, chain-sawing, and otherwise defiling a series of alarm clocks. The second single, ‘I’m that Guy’ showcased the band’s individual personalities with a four way split screen. Jamsphere said of the music video, ‘With every new release, it’s always a step forward for the members of Post Trauma, and never a step backward. Here on “I’m That Guy,” the band displays their ease with constructing a hand-clapping jukebox hit. This is catchy country-pop music that gets feet tappin’ and voices singin’ along; its music that provides a happy melody to the lives of their fans and casual listeners alike.”
Throughout the breakneck schedule of playing concerts, recording a double album and making music videos, Post Trauma Band still found time to do a collaboration project with friends Sebastian Saraceno and Ronald Clark. 'Risen' is an inspirational and uplifting Rock song with heartfelt lyrics and an unforgettable melody. Sebastian Saraceno and Ronald Clark wrote the lyrics and fundamental chords, and chose to collaborate with Post Trauma Band to perform and record the track. Produced and engineered by Post Trauma Band, 'Risen' came to life much in the same fashion as 'Sleepless.' Sebastian, Ronald and Post Trauma performed the song on the hit television show Pit Boss in March of 2013. A four song collaborative EP is due for release in June 2013.
Post Trauma Band is often asked how they’ve managed to accomplish so much in a relatively short time: A double album, a collaborative EP, a series of music videos, television performances, Jagermeister sponsorship and over 200 live concerts. The answer boils down to one fundamental base that most bands don’t have: Post Trauma Band is family. Guitarist/Singer Billy Ulrich and keyboardist Kenny Ulrich are brothers. Joey was a friend of the family, and in 2010 when the band was forming, everything just made sense.
Their musical diversity stems from the tastes each member brings. Kenny is a film soundtrack composer, and supplies the huge sound of symphonies as heard on ‘The Road,’ along with the quirky yet undeniably catchy multi-instrumental tracks showcased on ‘I Get High’ and ‘Heartbreaker.’ Joey is a pure Rock drummer, pulling inspiration from the Hard Rock greats of the 90’s and today. Songs ‘Shot Down’ and ‘Nightshift’ showcase his rare ability to play the pocket and unleash the thunder on command. Billy is a Rock/Metal guitarist and a Country lyricist. “I’m that Guy’ and ‘End in Friend’ are a prime examples of his story-telling lyrics set to a thundering Les Paul.
Post Trauma Band shows no signs of letting up, and is very much looking forward to the next release, the next music video, and more than anything, the next concert. Recorded last year and silently waiting to invade your eardrums, ‘Dreamless’ is the next phase in the Post Trauma story. The second half of their debut double album takes a journey deeper into the Rock side of Post Trauma Band. Darker, louder, heavier and self indulgent, Dreamless hits stores this summer.
