Composer Gary Volnov lives and works in Moscow, but he was born and studied music in Tbilisi, Georgia. Thus, in his work he combines European, American and Eastern musical traditions.
Gary’s music spans a great number of genres, including jazz, classic, funk, fusion, third stream, smooth jazz, latina. He has a special talent of conveying deep emotions in any music style.
Gary works together with some world-renowned musicians, including Larry Coryell, Marco Mendoza, Joel Taylor, Joey Heredia, Mario Parmisano, Hernan Romero, Igor Butman, Roman Miroshnichenko, as well as some young and talented musicians.
Poetic Jazz Theater is a project that, relying on a generous budget and hard studio work, achieved great quality of sound, so much so that many tracks can easily be used as film soundtracks. They are ready-made highly emotional and vivid pieces of music that can effectively convey a wide range of feelings and images in any serious film with an impressive budget.
What makes Gary Volnov’s music stand out is his ability to accurately express the emotions evoked by poetry. The peculiar energy of the lyrics is an essential metaphysical component of Garry’s work, especially when it comes to melodies and harmonies. That is why many of his music pieces are written either for the lyrics of the Nikolay Gumilev, a poet of the Russian Silver Age, or have been inspired by Gumilev’s poems.
Gary Volnov wrote soundtrack to a musical theatre piece ‘Kinght of the Order of the Dream’ and his music is often played by Russian jazz radio stations.
