Painting on Shadows is the second LP from Southern California based-band Particle Wave. Following the success of their 2009 debut, Interference Pattern, Particle Wave expands & evolves their sound on 10 new tracks while staying true to the unique style fans expect. Particle Wave delivers Album-Oriented Rock with strong, melody-driven vocals, leads and harmonies under lush guitar with driving drums and bass. Timelessly mixed by Chad Bamford (Spiritualized, Weezer), Painting on Shadows also features a guest trumpet appearance from Stewart Cole (Edward and the Magnetic Zeroes/Mumford & Sons) on 'So Far Away.'
Formed in 2006, Particle Wave materialized when long-time friends, Bryce Stoddart, Brian Arthurs & Chase Harris combined forces with singer & lyricist Greg Maechling. During countless jam sessions and performances across Southern California, Particle Wave has successfully integrated each member’s influences in order to shape their current sound. Rooted in classic rock, the band incorporates elements of noise pop and indie rock to establish its sonic foundation -- while delivering strong, melody-driven vocals, guitar hooks, and harmonies to complete the experience.
In January of 2010, Particle Wave released their debut LP, Interference Pattern. Impressing the critics, Interference Pattern has been described as:
"...A great debut with a good mix of fast and slow tracks with a pure rock sound." -- (WRUV)
"Most of the songs make me want to drive around San Francisco, blasting them with the windows down. Their laid back/classic sound and chill, catchy tempo make Particle Wave a pretty good jam." (KAMP)
Standout track, 'Mind,' recently reached #1 on Jango Internet Radio (October 2010), also acheiving multiple weeks on their top ten Pop Score charts.
