折り紙 Rose
Origami Rose (折り紙 Rose) (ori·ga·mi noun \ˌȯr-ə-ˈgä-mē\) is an American alternative hip-hop group with alternative rock, classical, house, hip-hop, folktronica and minimalist elements. The group is known for its alternative style of production, as well as frontman Kurume Fukuoka’s southern vocals and Lloyd Dobler’s eclectic sound. In the late 90’s and early 21st century, the duo began working together under a different alias; influenced by the likes of Ghostface Killah of the Wu-Tang Klan, they decided to keep their identity secret. It wasn’t until years later that they formed the group Origami Rose, which began its pursuit to create beautiful music through instrumental. In late 2010, Lloyd and Kurume began working on their newest project “Origami Rose: The Forever”. The Origami Rose projects have been described as a “mini-series of music” that will tell a story from beginning to end. Their newest quest is to revive the art of storytelling through music. Producer/vocalist Kurume said “Music should tell stories, at least snapshots of life.” Their quest for this project is to do just that with their first single “Automatic.” The track highlights real life changes for members of the military as well as an all too familiar discussion about relationships. Their latest album, The Forever will be released in early 2012.
