It’s no surprise that by the age of 14 Mocha B decided she would take her God-given talent and pursue a singing career. Not only because she was good, but also because it made her happy and always felt right. No matter what was going on, she could wrap herself up in a good song and sing her heart out. Through her pursuits in her career, Mocha B draws from many of her musical influences. She takes qualities from each of them and packages them for her own unique style. Mocha B takes the hard work ethic and consistency from Beyonce, while drawing on the sultry and seductive voice of Anita Baker. From Ella Fitzgerald, she claims the vocal flexibility and allows her voice to become one with the music yet stand on it’s own. And from Brandy, she embraces her dark chocolate complexion and distinguishing voice and uses them to her advantage.
