Mary Pierce, singer/songwriter, shares her original music through her debut album, Miles Away. Her soothing and clear voice, with Celtic-type qualities, has been compared to Sarah McLachlan, Natalie Merchant, Enya, and the Irish band The Coors.
“The release of this album is something I have wanted to do for many years. Everything came together over the past two years in collaboration with my sister, Margaret Gianquinto, an accomplished pianist, and David Shenton, an award-winning musician. Margaret’s creativity on piano and guitar and her harmonic vocals adds richness and a unique blend of tonalities.” The album is produced by Shenton, whose insights and arrangements on piano, cello and oboe flow effortlessly throughout the album.
With a family of nine (seven children) finding the time to write, sing and produce songs requires balancing Mary Pierce’s many priorities. Born in White Plains, New York, and raised in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, Mary has trained professionally at Carnegie Hall and has sung with the Westchester Hudson Opera Company.
“The process—starting with hearing the melody in my head, to allowing the lyrics to flow—is a journey of the heart and the soul. When the instrumentation is added in a natural way, there is a sense of accomplishment and incredible beauty, knowing the songs have been brought to their fullest by the exceptional talent of all who shared in this musical endeavor.”
