First of all, LUMINA was born as a guitar&drums duo, after only two incredible recording sessions without any rehearsals, editing and overdubs (around 2003-2004). Due to the unexpected and flaming result Fabio and Johny decided to join forces to form LUMINA. The “free-style sound” of LUMINA, although at the first moment it sounds like “broken” or “fragmented” without any structure, it shows us an unexpected “organic” structure after many auditions. That’s why they choose “Fractals” as the main symbol of Lumina. Lately, after listening to the “duo” recordings, Sizão Machado - well know all over the world by his performances with Chet Baker, Elis Regina, Herbie Memm, Chico Buarque, Djavan, Milton Nascimento, Jim Hall, Ivan Lins, Randy Brecker, Flora Purim, Airto Moreira, etc - joined the project. He recorded impossible bass parts, increasing the impact and effect on LUMINA’s sound.
