Last Stand For Lucy is an indie/punk band based in Brooklyn, New york. Some major influences include: The Cure, Face to Face, Joy Division, Sparta, Balance and Composure, and Bloc Party.
Although the band has made themselves at home in Brooklyn, all members are originally from Buffalo, New York. LSFL originated in late 2009 and released a 4 song EP titled, "Bastards of Gramercy" which, overall, was quite dark and melancholy. Following the EP's release, the band gained popularity in the New York City area and quickly followed up with a sharper more aggressive EP, "Dysthymia (Part One)." Released in 2011, the band's sophomore effort featured provocative and chillingly honest lyrics, spearheaded by explosive guitars.
The band has been writing and recording through the winter and spring of 2013. Their new record titled "Distance" will be out by the end of 2013. Sonically, we can expect somewhat of a departure from the gassed-up and guitar driven "Dysthymia."
"We wanted to strip the music down to its basic elements; we wanted to capture something very "real" in studio," says singer, Michael O'Neil.
Bittersweet, even beautiful at times, "Distance" is going to be another big step in the quartets' development. Expect the new single "For the Moment" this fall.
