Kelli Ali is a female vocalist most recognised for being lead singer for the trip-hop group Sneaker Pimps, under the name Kelli Dayton.
Though she was featured prominently in both the songs and the music videos for the album Becoming X (the group finding fame following the release of the hit single "6 Underground"), she was released from the group in 1998.
Kelli Ali, moved on to a solo career, starting with her Tigermouth album in 2003. With this album, she moved from trip-hop to a more dream pop sound. The album featured hits such as "Sunlight in the Rain" and "Kids," which featured the Doors drummer John Densmore.
She toured alongside Garbage in 2003 and released a follow-up album, Psychic Cat, in mid-2004. The Psychic Cat album was more of a return to Ali's rock and roll roots, and featured musician-turned-author Tony O'Neill on keyboards.
On 24 November 2008, Kelli Ali released Rocking Horse, her third solo album and first independent release. The Rocking Horse album has a more acoustic tone than previous releases and is a dark psyche folk record combining strings and vintage organs and acoustic guitar to create an original haunting cinematic record.
The album was produced by Max Richter (composer of Martin Scorcese's Shutter Island soundtrack) in Glasgow and Edinburgh in the first half of 2008.
In 2009 Kelli released her totally acoustic album Butterfly which she produced with her partner Metso. The album was recorded in London and featured Kelli's live band with flute, cello and violin and acoustic guitars.
In 2010 Kelli collaborated with the Swiss composer and pianist, Ozymandias (aka Christophe Terrettaz) on the album 'A Paradise Inhabited by Devils' which is a haunting piano and vocal contemporary classical album in the vein of Phillip Glass and Ennio Morricone. Minimal and original, the album is based on the short works of the legendary horror writer, Mary Shelley and was released in November 2010. The album is a digital release and is available to download at Bandcamp iTunes and Amazon.
Kelli is now writing her fifth solo album which she hopes to release in 2011.
