Katie Lafond and the Main Streets Lights…An unforgettable Indie rock group led by Lafond’s scorching hot vocals, Swanson’s mind shuddering guitar riffs, and a rhythm section that has been jamming together for years.
Katie Lafond & The Main Street Lights began with an award winning singer meeting two Chicago musicians in a local Racine coffee shop. After the band’s first show at the Wisconsin State Fair, they had decided to officially introduce their new addition to the band. Lead guitarist Nick Swanson was the finalized addition to this group’s exceptional sound and talent.
Influences in KL&MSL derive from a widespread spectrum of music including Rock, Jazz, Indie, Pop, Alternative, Funk, and Metal. While still allowing all influences to play a part, KL&MSL plays a mix of indie and rock. While recording and releasing their first single on their own “Shine again(Desperately),” KL&MSL has over 300 plays with an upwards of a thousand fans.
As the bands lead singer, Katie, along with her striking appearance and stage presence, has a voice that could be easily mistaken for currently charted artist Adele. Coming from a background of classical singing, and voice lessons, this girl can hit a note higher than the Eiffel Tower, with more power than a hurricane in the middle of the Atlantic. She has been awarded Wisconsin’s rising star award in the 2010 Summerfest Showcase, and was just recently voted performance of the year in Milwaukee’s RnB Live showcase.
The Main Street Lights work together to light up the stage with melodic guitar solos, catchy bass jams, and a mixture of intricate rhythms and dynamically placed fills that will knock your socks off, and have them running for the door. With a tight rhythm section due to experience and consistency, and the sole knowledge and expertise in Swanson’s background, this is not a show fans are likely to see just once.
KL&MSL is a performance driven group of phenomenal musicians paying attention to the intricacies of their music. With their album to be released in early February, they are working on expanding their fan base outside of their localities. Along with releasing their music and connecting with fans, they plan on giving to the music industry exactly what they’ve seized from it, catchy tunes, and a hell of a good time.
