Cath Maunder grew up in a musical family and started performing on stage at the tender age of 3. “My mother wrote musicals and plays for children, and my brother I and later my sister performed leading roles in these. We also grew up singing in church which is probably one of the best places to learn harmonies. Really music was just something we did in our house and so it was a natural extension of that to become a musician – after all it’s what I’ve always been.”
Cath studied classical piano, guitar and for a brief time the ‘cornet’ and also the ‘timbrel’ (a tambourine with a skin).
As a teenager she performed lead roles in musicals at the prestigious music school ‘Perth Modern School’ and also sang in a children’s choir, and a girls duo and trio, often arranging harmonies and regularly touring parts of Australia.
Cath later turned professional and began singing in Perth bands and also played many 5 star hotels as a regular ‘piano women’. She started writing in her first band performing a blend of covers and originals.
She was originally scouted by a label in Perth who convinced her to write under a stage name and has to date recorded 2 albums and an ep under the name of KCee. www.cathkcee.com
Her first album ‘I Feel, I Breathe’ received airplay in Australia, Italy, France, Belgium, Germany, Holland and Argentina and was independently released in the USA to critical acclaim with 2 songs reaching the Top 50 according to New Music Weekly.
Her recent release ‘ Foolish’, is receiving airplay in many parts of the world including, Japan, France, Italy, Serbia, Montenegro, Holland, and Argentina,
Cath released 2 singles in Australia as KCee, to radio and received regular rotation on many country stations and was last year signed to the Ritmo Records label in Jacksonville Texas.
Crystal clarity and well-structured citrus sharp vocals feature on this new album for KCee, a young lady with strong songwriting skills and a perceptive approach to her music. Deborah Minter Capital News.
“Highlights of my career have been performing in front of 30,000 soccer fans in Perth and supporting Vanessa Amorossi in Tamworth as KCee a couple of years back and receiving record company support after so many years as an independent artist. Am now really looking forward to working with ‘Gypsy’. It’s so surprising how many hits Fleetwood Mac had. They were really such prolific writers. I’m really excited about working with such talented musicians and am looking forward to seeing where ‘Gypsy’ takes me next!”
