Julia Santana a native New Yorker, was born with music in her heart. Music has never ceased to be an inspirational expressive lifeline. Her performance experience dates back to the wee age of 5yrs. Constantly creating songs. Julia picked up her first guitar, a nylon string Yamaha, when she was a teenager and has never stopped, playing many of the major clubs in NYC.
Her heart was drawn to rock when she first saw the rock opera "Tommy" by "The Who". Her heart jumped and right there and then, Julia knew "That's what I'm supposed to do!".
Her influences continued to grow from ABBA to Zappa; from Motown to Mozart; Latin Freestyle to Blues.
While continuing her solo career as a singer/songwriter, she has been signed to independent and major labels such as MicMac Records and Atlantic Records. She is also a member of ASCAP as well as a member of Equity.
Julia has also performed in several rock operas in leading roles such as the "Girl" in Elizabeth Swados "The Girl With The Incredible Feeling" and as "Mimi" in Jonathan Larson ,Pulitzer Prize winner, "Rent" performing with an incredible talented cast that included Neil Patrick Harris and Wilson Cruz.
