In 1925 I was born as Emily Stubblefield. My artistic father, William B. Stubblefield, formed a dance band with his three musical brothers. My father was the "leader" with his sax. He had to be the boss, as he was the only one with a car! On nights when my mother let the air out of Daddy's tires there was no dance as there was no other car!
